I think all leaders and management teams should accept their employees for who they are as long as they meet company policy. Differentialty creates a more diverse culture in the workplace. You shouldn't be looking for people who all fit the same exact description. That is not going to get anyone anywhere. The difference between ideas and personalities help shape the comapny.

Micro-management is the sign of a bad leader. If the leader can't delegate to his employees, he should replace them and find someone he can trust to do the job. If he can't trust Anyone to do the job, he should be replaced in turn. There is no redeeming value of a micro-manager, and there is no reason for it other than insecurity.

This article really hits home for me with my experience at FedEx with one of the managers we have there. The issue of micromanaging can be really hard to deal with as an employee. Having your manager exert full control on the situation and not letting employees breath or make any of their own decisions is really discouraging. This is a struggle that is hard for employees to cope with and have real respect for their manager.

You will probably run into a micro-manger in any work environment. Micro-managers are the worst, they mean well but they often abuse their authority. Instead of being productive in their own aspect they are to busy watching you and looking for your mistake. This really affects employee moral and makes working somewhere not very pleasant. The best thing to do it to talk to the micro-manger on the side to help them fix acting in this manner

They can be bad for the business because micromanaging Takes away from what the manager really tries to push forth. But it can't be pressured to make a lot of bad decisions as well because this is such a distinguishing factor. They push towards one goal but may do it differently and push off his theory.

I know that I can't stand when people stand over my shoulder to watch my work. Some time managers need to learn to relinquish some control and have faith that their employees can handle the job. When you stress people out by micromanaging them, they begin to make errors and the work suffers.

Sometimes I think people micromanage because they want control. It is hard to work when someone is over your shoulder all of the time. These people are also often hard to talk to so you either have to suck it up or hide when you see them coming. Either way it makes it hard to in this type of environment

I think that when a manager micromanages everything, it shows that they doesn’t trust the employees. Once employee empowerment goes away, they whole atmosphere and feeling of the business goes with it. While it may be difficult to trust every single employee, allowing the others to make particular decisions can boost moral and confidence of the whole department or company.

"Micro managers" are just employees that believe they are better than others and need to be in control. They are opinionated, overly confident, and don't necessarily know all the right answers. When they are not in control, their actions could be "unproductive and demoralizing". As a manager, evaluating employees, it is your responsibility to recognize these micro managers and defuse the situation. Let them know how they are negatively impacting your team. Although you want them to know the severity, you want to maintain a positive, optimistic attitude.

Working with people who micromanage is very difficult. It is important to make them aware that you are doing the job that is presented to you to the best of your capabilities. Let them know that you take pride in the work that you do, and that unless there were some sort of short comings with the work being completed that you would appreciate if they did not micromanage. Of course, this is easier said than done.

If a micromanager is giving an employee troubles it would be wise to approach them calmly. They would have to justify the problem and seek a solution. Is would be a great idea to let them know how you feel. A micromanger giving people problems at a workplace can make the employees lose productivity and that is not good for business.

I have to agree with this article on micromanagers giving employess a hard time everyday. If I every decide to start my own company I would not allow anyone to be a micro manager, due to the fact that they would run off all my employees by complaining everyday about the small stuff. Micro managers need to realize that no employee is going to be perfect and that they must work around that employees stengths.

I understand that at times there will seem like micromanaging may be needed, but because of the negativity it can cause I do not see it as useful. Instead of constantly focusing on the little things management should also be minding the big problems. Constantly hovering over your employees can be like Simon North describes it, demoralizing and unproductive. I know as I was working that having someone constantly looking over your shoulder is never helpful or positive in anyway. Like the article states though one of the best ways to get them to understand is to get them to relate.

Yes,I understand that micromanagers have pressure to produce the results expected, but have a micro manager who does not understand employees strengths and weakness will lead to even poor performance. Micromanager should understands its employees and learn how to work with each one and to produce the desired results, which means he should confront other any employee who is not performing as expected, but not giving pressure of others but not other. He should also be a good examples for its employees.

All I can say about this article is amen! I understand that many people that tend to be micromanagers are not always aware that that is what they are doing. However, they can really negatively affect the environment at the workplace. Micromanagers tend to make everyone feel anxious, uneasy, and stressed. It is important for managers and other employees at a higher level to be able to recognize micromanagers and try to talk to them about how to better deal with these situations. However, if you are at the bottom of the totem pole and the micromanager is above you, it can be very difficult to be able to do anything about the situation.
