Instant MBA: Spot Potential Problems Before They Become Disasters The advice that this article suggest is ideal for both business and non-business owners. Squashing potential problems at the root before they reach the surface should always be thought of because it avoids the unknown. I myself follow this advice in everyday life, and it does make life much easier to live. Most people like to approach their problems head on, which is fine, but I would much rather solve them ahead of time. At least that way I do not have to worry about the outcome being so severe.

INSTANT MBA: Spot Potential Problems Before They Become Disasters
Taking action promptly is key to avoid an organizational crisis. It is usual that managers know about a potential issue, but they neglect to take care of the problem on time, so this issue becomes a nightmare for the company. Even though must firms overload their managers and executives with work, it is essential that they prioritize the solution of issues as soon as they are discovered, so they can prevent the issue from becoming a major problem, which will be harder to fix. Integrating all parties or employees involved is important to solve the problem. One manager alone sometimes can't do all the work by himself. Moreover, it is always good to encourage lower-level employees to detect and correct potential problems, so they prepare themselves for future managerial jobs.

I think this article made a good point about spotting a problem before it turns into a big issue. In order to be an effective leader, you must always pay attention to the little details and know how to resolve issues before they turn into big problems that could potential have a huge impact on your business. It is also important for your employees to be able to do this as well. I see this in my current position doing electrical work. My crew and I will complete a job and it is my job to ensure that they are doing everything correctly. We work as a team to ensure that there are no little problems that could potential ruin our whole project.

INSTANT MBA: Spot Potential Problems Before They Become Disasters
You have to not only know how to spot the problems but actually do something about them and know how to deal with the problems. Enron knew all of the potential problems but magically made their numbers for every quarter and manipulated their business. It is good to spot your problems before them, let everyone know on what the company needs to do to get itself out of the potential problem. This way there is no confusion on what to do when anything comes up.

INSTANT MBA: Without Great Customer Service, It Doesn't Matter How Good Your Product Is
All companies need to have an action plan for customer service. This should be a core value for all companies working with public. It must be a priority for all employees from the owner to the front line workers. If you don't have a action plan for customer service, you won't be in business for long. Customers are what makes a company successful. If customer doesn't get results from a complaint, they will not return and will spread the word of dislike to all family and friends. Keep customer service as a priority for all business adventures. Customers are what makes a company successful.

INSTANT MBA: Spot Potential Problems Before They Become Disasters
One of the things that Raising Canes teaches their managers in training is how to identify "bottlenecks." This basically means seeing what is the initial cause of a problem. Generally when something goes wrong it has a domino effect that keeps on trickling down. You may only notice that very end result, when in actuality, the initial cause of the problem is what you should be addressing. We had exercises where you could clearly see a shift running improperly, but it was up to you to figure out what put the shift into a bad motion. I believe this is something that you could utilize in any business. It is always important to see where problems begin in order to fix them and prevent them from reoccurring.

It is important to spot potential problems before they become disasters because that can save your business from a crisis. In management it is important to keep things under control and watch everything that is going on. If you don't address the issue at hand it can grow and eventually damage your business. I have been in a situation were there was a problem and my manager did not address it and it got out of control. She ended up losing some workers and also her job all over some gossip. My theory is address the problem and fix it before you can't.
