Instant MBA: If You Are Bigger Than Your Job, Your Job Will Get Bigger
When you work for a company for a long time you should grow with the company. I believe the more you know the more you grow. At my job there are plenty opportunities for advancement. I have been a cashier, head cashier, now I am an assistant manager, and because of my education in december I am planning to become an auditor with the company. One should not stay in the same position for years i believe that as the company grows you should grow. Become more knowledgable and make your job bigger.

INSTANT MBA: 'If You Are Bigger Than Your Job, Your Job Will Get Bigger' Companies should always be looking to reward their employees for their hard work over the years. If employees work at a place for so long and never get a promotion, extra benefits, or any type of reward then they would feel as if they’re not important to the company and not work as hard as they can. The companies that do offer rewards and promotions leave it to the employees to continue the good work but also assigning them with more duties. Promoted employees must continue to grow as the company does if he hopes to remain projected at as one of the potential employees to receive other promotions of benefits. Overall I feel that if companies offer rewards then it motivates employees to work harder, therefore improving the company in the end.

INSTANT MBA: 'If You Are Bigger Than Your Job, Your Job Will Get Bigger'
I think that as an employee, you need to challenge yourself. If you don’t, the job becomes redundant and you never really show your boss what you have the ability to do. Also, by accepting new challenges you show that you are willing to take on new roles, leading you to more pay and more authority. It’s always a good idea to keep moving within a company to maintain your motivation and passion. Good article.

Instant MBA: If You Are Bigger Than Your Job, Your Job Will Get Bigger
This post reminds us that instead of thinking that we are outgrowing our job and need to move on to bigger and better things maybe we need to let our job grow. Taking initiative will allow our jobs to grow with us instead of outgrowing our jobs. I see it all to often that rather than trying to improve the position people are in, they job hop hoping to land into the position they want to be in.

INSTANT MBA: 'If You Are Bigger Than Your Job, Your Job Will Get Bigger'
I do not completely understand how you can be bigger than your job, but your job almost always gets bigger. If it does not, you are doing something wrong and need to take a step back and evaluate yourself. The reason your job grows is because the longer you are with a company, the more your value and knowledge of the company grows. This allows you to be more valuable to the company, which allows you to take on more tasks. These tasks may start out as volunteering, but eventually your job responsibilities will grow the longer you stay with an organization.

INSTANT MBA: 'If You Are Bigger Than Your Job, Your Job Will Get Bigger'
It doesn't matter how big of an idea someone may be responsible for, if they are left to stagnate, they will slip in their work. Keep giving people chances to get better, keep giving them chances to improve and to prove themselves, no they will keep stepping up and doing well. The better they do, the better for the business.

INSTANT MBA: 'If You Are Bigger Than Your Job, Your Job Will Get Bigger'
If your company is growing then you need to be able to adapt to the changes. You and your employees will need to take on extra work in order for your company to grow to its full potential. When employees take on more work remember that they should get a raise or bonus because they are now doing more work than normal. Some employees will quit if they take on more responsibility with no benefits to them. No employee should feel like they are taken advantage of so just remember to reward employees for their hard work.

INSTANT MBA: 'If You Are Bigger Than Your Job, Your Job Will Get Bigger'
This article is true because this situation has happened to my management team at work. Everyone on our team is hard working and hopes to move forward. Because we all go out of our way to go above and beyond, we all share one another's job responsibilities. We each do part of the job that is directly about ours. My operations manager aspires to be a general manager on day, so she took over a lot of my general manager's marketing responsibilities. I aspire to move forward so I make schedules and take charge of interviews as hiring even though it is technically the job of the operations manager. Because we all strive to be bigger than our current jobs, our jobs did get bigger and I learn alot because of this.

I absolutely agree with this article. As an employee your hard work needs to be noticed, if you excel at your job your role in the company should expand as well. The problem I have found is that many companies do not practice this. They expect you to do your job and go home. I would like to go beyond my description and show my true value but I want it to be noticed and rewarded with growth in every way.

INSTANT MBA: 'If You Are Bigger Than Your Job, Your Job Will Get Bigger' I've always been a big believer in evolving, learning new things, and taking on new tasks. I know some people aren't big fans of it but now a days I would say it's important for employers to seek employees like that. Ofcourse having a big group of employees that would like to expand would have a significant impact on a company.

MBA: If You Are Bigger Than Your Job, Your Job Will Get Bigger
This article is saying that as you grow in the company, you will have more responsibilities and maybe a larger workload, but you feel more important and have more worth in the company. Usually more worth is followed by compensation to keep employees interested in the job at hand, which makes for a happier employee both in the compensation aspect, as well as feeling like they are a part of something bigger than themselves.

If that challenge does not exist, then the individual worker will be missing opportunities for growth and most likely the company will be missing opportunity as well. She doesn't even acknowledge us, when we tell her "good morning." So we just keep our distance until we have clearance she is a good mood. The companies that do offer rewards and promotions leave it to the employees to continue the good work but also assigning them with more duties. No employee should feel like they are taken advantage of so just remember to reward employees for their hard work. Companies should always be looking to reward their employees for their hard work over the years.

Instant MBA: If You Are Bigger Than Your Job, Your Job Will Get Bigger
I couldn't agree more with this article. Not only will employees strive to constantly better the business, but it also helps to boost morale in a company. When employees become bored with the same routine day in and day out there job becomes more of a job rather than an opportunity or challenge to help grow the business.

INSTANT MBA: 'If You Are Bigger Than Your Job, Your Job Will Get Bigger'
Mr. Raines has a great point, in that motivation by creating an ever-evolving duty structure for employees; enhances creativity, innovation, and morale. I would also assume that this would create a sense of ownership in the company for these employees. With the innovations created by an energized workforce come additional opportunities for the employees willing to put in the work and brain power. Unfortunately, in the public sector, I don’t see this as a possibility, with all the revenue shortfalls during this down economy. I do think, though, that the public sector could take a note or two on possible ideas stemming from this passage.
