Overworking employees is harmful to the company. When employees get overtired they do not care about the product they are helping make. They lose sight of the important things.

INSTANT MBA: Don't Micromanage Your Employees
As I said earlier, I believe there is a thin line between micrmanaging and giving your employees room to do their own thing. While I find it refreshing to be able to make my own decisions in certain situations, there are still times my boss has to do it his way no matter what. It's frustrating because i feel like his ways are irrelevant. At the same time, there are times he goes weeks without checking in with me. I think a good middle point would be to back off and simply check in ever so often to see updates and offer help if needed.

We americans have a strong work ethic in general. We as a society believe in working hard, all the time. In my opinion, this is a good thing, but it can be overdone (I do it a lot) with project oriented managers. Driving your people until they are unhappy in the workplace leads to lower productivity and higher turnover, both of which are expensive and detrimental to a firm's long term success.

Instant MBA: When You Overwork Your Employees, You’re Cheating Yourself and Your Business
This article takes an approach to treatment of employees that I can relate to. It is important to treat employees with the respect that you would expect from them. Overworking employees does not lead to success, but failure because the employees than do not strive to do better and can become disgruntled. Employees thrive when conditions are set to allow them time to make innovations and feel like they have room to grow.

Instant MBA: When You Overwork Your Employees, You're 'Cheating Yourself And Your Business'
No better words have been spoken. Its good to remember the golden rule when treating your employees a certain way. Remember to always ask yourself would I like it if I was in their shoes, and is my demand on them fair. Do they also see if they go beyond the call of duty they will be greatly rewarded in the future. These are all important things to take into consideration and will impact turnover and employee moral.

INSTANT MBA: When You Overwork Your Employees, You're 'Cheating Yourself And Your Business'
I feel as being employee myself you do have to do the things a manger has set. But if that manager continues to overwork the employee It does become bad for the business. A manager should always do their fair share of the work. Even if it is the smallest of things still showing their employees that they care.

I agree that it is important to rest and not overwork yourself. When you work tired, the job suffers. We need to take a moment to relax and take a breath. The best work gets done when you're fresh and not tired.

Overworking yourself and your employees can lead to burnout. Working at a steady pace and taking breaks is recommended for a healthy mind and body. In the long run overworking yourself and your employees will lead to loss of time. Employees will start calling in sick and you might get sick as well. After all we are only human if we do not take care of our selves we cannot become successful.

Everyone needs time to relax. If someone is stressed out all the time because they are being overworked than they won't be working to their full ability. The work needs to always be done at its best to keep a business running good, so everyone should be working at normal levels of work to not get stressed and ran down by there job.

This is a great article and many bosses should read it. Yes it is true that if and employer overworks his/her employees it is not better of for the organization. Always pushing and pushing employees is not good and will create stress which causes harm to the body and mind. I appreciate that there should be a balance of work and pleasure. Break time!

This article speaks volumes. I think that employer need to start treating their employees the same way they would like to be treated. They are not machines they are humans with feelings too. Gladys Edmunds is correct in saying that Sometimes entrepreneurs become over-enthusiastic about developing customers, earning money, and breaking ground to grow their companies. When you do this you can tend to overwork yourself and your co-workers/employees.

INSTANT MBA: When You Overwork Your Employees, You're 'Cheating Yourself And Your Business'
I definitely believe this article is true. When your employees are overworked, they are not working at their full potential. Also, for more innovative companies, the employees may end up lacking creativity and become bored with work because it has taken over their lives. However, the case is not always that the person is forced into this situation. Most of the time employees and bosses voluntarily overwork themselves. Also, if the bosses are overworked, they do not think anything of it if the employees are overworked. therefore, it is important for them to realize that not everyone should be like that and it is the bosses' responsibility to make sure that their employees and themselves are not overworked.

Instant MBA: When You Overwork Your Employees, You’re Cheating Yourself and Your Business
When one is overworked, he/she becomes tired, irritable, less creative, and so much more. It is important to get sleep and have free time that way your creativity can run free. If your employees feel overworked, they tend to start slacking on their job, which only tends to hurt your business.

Instant MBA: When You Overwork Your Employees, You’re Cheating Yourself and Your Business
Entrepreneurs, and other business leaders alike, often push the envelope when wanting to break new ground. It is important to them and to their employees not to overdo it. When you burn the candle at both end sometimes quality begins to suffer. If you and your staff have worked extremely hard for a period of time, come up with some type of reward for yourself and your employees.

Instant MBA:When you over work your employees, you cheat yourself and your employees
I agree with this link and employers do not notice how over worked their employees are until it is too late. When running a company it is a good idea to have events with your employees so that they can relax. It can be company picnics, a competitive sport, or even a company movie day. The employees just need something to take their mind off of work so they can be more productive later.
