I wish my superiors would do a few of these techniques. In the Army our meetings that should only last 20 minutes, tend to last for 1 hour plus. The long winded people just like to hear themselves talk, they tend to gear off topic and talk about future issues that no one can control or contribute to at this point in time. Taking chairs out, removing phones, and placing a big timer in the room should help with these meetings. If it does, I won't dread going to them as much.

Meetingitis, refers to having too many meetings with too many people that last too long. Ways to eliminate this is by having timers that say when the meeting will end, only invite the necessary people, having meetings standing up, check in lap-tops and cell phones so you have everyone's undivided attention. Most importantly, have a dtrong leader that is willing to organize the meeting and keep the meeting on track. Great advice. I will definitely share this video.

I think her point about turning in electronic devices before a meeting is a great idea. We are far too distracted constantly as a society with our electronics. We are constantly trying to multitask. If in a work meeting we only focus on the material being discusses, it would save a ton of time.

Basically do not waste time. Use your time to be productive and accomplish goals. It shows how meetings can waste more time than needed. Sometimes meetings are not necessary and prevent people from being productive. Meetings need to be short sweet and to the point have a strong message that will come across important and have a strong agenda. Have a strong leader lead the meeting and make sure the meeting is useful. This is a very good video for companies to learn from.

Time is invaluable in any business organization. If a company wastes time, they are losing money. Thus, whatever a company does must be directed towards wasting no time. Businesses hold meetings in order to communicate, inform, and also to make decisions on important matter. However, meetings tend to be time consuming and less productive than planned. In order to get most out of a meeting, the video suggests three unconventional methods, which I found very relevant. Using projection timers, removing electronics devices, removing chairs are few methods that can aid in making the meeting productive.

This video couldn't be more correct. I can't tell you how many meetings I've been in where we discuss topics that rarely ever get resolved after the meeting. I will definitely be passing the video along to some of my fellow managers.

These Work Smart videos are good because they discuss how to make it through the boring or tedious aspects of the workplace. Meetings are very similar to power points or presentations. They should be shorter then too long, and get straight to the point. They should catch and keep the attention of all attendees, and the leader should know exactly how to handle the meeting.

I believe that the hardest thing to do in a work place is to have a meeting. Meetings can be distracting and some times the main point of the meeting is missed by the things that distract us everyday - technology. Having too many meetings and too many people can be unproductive. Not understanding how it should be run and not letting others have input will also have a bad effect from the meeting.

I was surprised at how much time is actually lost during meetings at a business. I can see myself being in a lot of meetings in my future career as an accountant. I can only hope and pray that the company I eventually get on with has the same philosophy as the individual in this video. When meetings are too long you lose productivity and can actually be damaging the company more than helping it.

Personally, I hate meetings. I really like the unconventional methods discussed in this video like Google's timer or taking the chairs out of meetings. The length and frequency of meetings is a problem for any organization, and I think that many companies do not realize the amount of time they waste. They should adopt the KISS method. Keep It Simple Stupid. I think this would help expedite meetings and save companies a lot of money in wasted man hours.

Meetings can be a tedious, time consuming event during a busy day in the organization. This video gives examples on how to alleviate some of these pitfalls and make meetings more productive. My favorite piece of advice was to keep meetings short, and to only have the people that are absolutely necessary there. Also, you want the meeting run by a strong leader who can keep it on track and not waste time.

This video gives good ideas on how to make meetings better and more efficient. Meetings are very important to a business but you should always make the most out of your meetings. You do not want to take that much time out of peoples work days. So make sure to make them as simple and to the point. A good example that they gave was Google. I feel like what they do is a good technique

Everyone knows that sometimes meetings can be a huge waste of time. So to make sure that a meeting is absolutely necessary there are a few things managers can do. First, like Gina mentions create or appoint a meeting leader. This meeting leader will decide the if the information that will be discussed in the meeting can be discussed or announced in an easier for of communication such as an email. If not than the meeting leader should make sure that the topics to be discussed are relevant and necessary for each person attending to hear. If a person will not find the information to be discussed useful or relevant than he or she would be more productive skipping the meeting and continue productivity. This will ensure that your employees do not get annoyed with unnecessary and too frequent meetings and this will also ensure for maximum productivity.

I think that most people believe that meetings are boring and they most likely don't want to be there. So when conducting a meeting, the only people that should be there is the person or people that are involved in the project that you are working on. Most people zone out in meetings and are not paying attention anyway so why have them there if they don't need to be there.
