TITLE- Work Smart: Unconventional Cures For Meeting-it is
I personally run into this issue quite often in my current job. We have meetings that can last up to three hours. This not only decreases focus in the meeting but also negatively influences my mindset going into the next meeting. Using some of these methods would drastically improve effectiveness and efficiency in our future meetings.

It's crazy to think that a one hour meeting can cost a company an entire work day. It is smart to make meetings shorter and more productive with techniques like no chairs, no device's, and putting a timer on the wall. Most meetings contain unnecessary attendees and information. No one wants to be in a meeting longer than they have to.

The methods provided in the video are practical and should be used by managers. Oftentimes, too many people are invited to meetings and when this happens the group as a whole loses focus. When billing rate are factored in, meetings can cost thousands of dollars. Therefore, managers should be aware of the recommendations such and leaving devices at the door to get involved parties in, out, and back to work.

Meetings can be terrible, because they can last very long. No one wants to waste all day stuck in a meeting. Some of the unconventional method could help you tolerate meetings such as, not having your phone. Personally, my phone is a big distractor in meetings, because I am tempted to use in to break the boredom. As the meeting organizer, you want to be able to have a small and efficient meeting, so others like me can get the torture over for the day. No one likes meetings to begin with.

I absolutely loved this video! Meetings when not productive are a waste of company time and money. Too often have I found my self wondering do I need to be in here? Do I need to hear this? Sometimes I really do have more important things to do, like call that client back or work on a project with a deadline.

Meetings usually are too long, and sometimes useless. Some cause time wasted. Keeping meetings small and short help. I like the standing meeting only, helps you focus and make you get your point across faster. Having a strong leader to the meeting, it the best way to get through a meeting with the respect of time.

I thought the standing in meetings was a great idea. No one would drag the meeting on if they were not able to sit the whole time. She had several other good ideas on how to keep meetings short. There are always unnecessary people at meetings. I worked at the internal office, and we had several meetings. There would always need to be people that would come that did not contribute to the meeting, but were only there to see what was going on. In these cases, they could just be sent a summary of the meeting. A timer is an okay idea, however that could make people nervous and not allow topics to be discussed further if needed. That would be the only suggestion I didn't agree with.

Everyone dreads meetings that are unproductive and timely. It is important that companies come up with a structure for their meetings where topics are discussed for a certain time limit like at Google. Another way to have a productive meeting is to have people stand and also not have their phones and tablets with them so they are not distracted. When meetings are actually worth something respect of other’s time is created.

I think some companies do have to many meetings. Meetings should also be short and to the point. I think someone should take the control of the meeting. People should be able to report what they have to say in a minute or less.

I actually like going to meetings. But they're important. They MAKE people talk and get down to the nitty gritty. However, companies need to figure out to make them shorter, with fewer people. Examples of what some companies have done to make meetings more productive is, put a giant timer out for everyone to see to know when to change topics, take the chairs out of the room, and make everyone leave all technology outside the door.

I agree with the video completely. The video talks about keeping them short and only have the ones who need to be there there or else you are wasting productivity for the business. I have been apart of meetings that I had no business being in and missed out on productive hours I could have been getting my work done. I think it is very important to keep it short and only have the necessary people there for the meeting.

The guy who took over ford has the no device policy in meeting. The company was failing so they brought in a new outside CEO. Another policy he has was not "Bull shit" answers. When he would ask people questions he wanted direct answers. Basically if they didn't know the answer say they don't know it. He didn't want them fumbling around making something up trying to sound productive

This video gives several different ways to save time which will also save money. These tips are important for anyone to understand, especially those in business. Im a firm believer that time is money so I try to remember that whenever I'm wasting time doing things that aren't truly important. The video explains that even tho meetings can be boring and seem like a waste of time, sometimes their unavoidable. Making an agenda to get the information that's needed to be talked about during a meeting is key so that the meeting is as short and efficient as possible.

Regardless of the business you are in or the job that you are fulfilling, you will always be pulled into meetings and will need to communicate new agendas and strategies to your team. I like the google strategy of having a large alarm clock that gauges how long you have for the meeting. Having this countdown makes people want to stay more structured and to the point, to ensure that their ideas are getting across in the most effective way possible. It is estimated that you maintain a audience's attention for around 20-25 minutes and then begin to lose them. By keeping the meetings short and structured, you can get more information across, keep people moving forward, and also allow everyone their own time to work and feel as though they are not wasting time in hour long meetings.
