I believe companies try to be different but all leaders of every type of company has something in company. Phone companies for instant Att, Sprint, and Verizon. They all say they are different but very much similar.

The sameness trap. Growing up I have always heard "there is nothing new under the sun". That is basically what he is saying here. Except he is saying to try not to get trapped in the "sameness". Many times we see a product or a service and we know "that has already been done". If companies take the time to try to be innovative and to stand out from the rest, then they will have a competitive advantage over many companies in the US.

The "sea of sameness" is a concept that traps people and businesses from not innovating. It is tricky for companies to try to develop new strategies or products, so they often mimic those of other successes. This only creates repetition and for the consumer, annoyance.

After watching this video what I took away was stray away from sameness. The business world is full of companies all selling the same idea, the same product and have the same goal. It is good to be different and to not let yourself slip into the sea of sameness. Always promote new ideas and think outside the box to gain a better advantage over your competitors. This is a video that should be shown to every company it has some pretty decent points.

To escape this sameness trap you have to think outside of the box. You have to start thinking about how you can up your competitors. Sometimes this sameness is solved by just advancing a product that is already made or by completely coming up with a new idea. In my dance studio I have to come up with new ideas every year for my recital theme. If my ideas started getting boring then that could effect my services for the following year.

What I took from this video is that you should always be different from everyone else. With that you have an advantage over other companies. Most companies are caught up in always doing the same thing over and over and doing what other companies are doing to compete. Even though you may have improved your product or service over time, so has everyone else. You should always be one step ahead of everyone else!

This is true there are quite a bit of the same things out there. Want a small car ok well twelve companies make the same thing for the same price. Want some clothes all the stores seem to have the same styles with different fabrics. I think that it comes from companies trying to mimic each other. They see success and immediate copy it. Thus leading to a spiral of sameness.

How to get out of the sameness trap. A lot of companies fall into this. it is easier to take someones else's idea, tweak it a bit, and make a business. To get out of or not fall into this trap in the first place be creative and use competitive intelligence. Be creative not only with your product or service, but also how you run your business and sell/market your product or service. Be different by running your business from the front instead of the back, market your brand and products in a cool and unique way. Use competitive intelligence to see what your competition is doing, and even if what they are doing is working do not just copy that. Doing something different does not mean your something will not work. Create a competitive advantage by being the first to do something instead of just following competition by what works for them. This is how you stay out of the sameness trap and run a successful business.

Being unique is what helps you stand out from the rest of the pack. If your company or individual ideas are the same as others then you will be as successful. Being innovative and different is what breeds success in today's day in age. The sameness sea is not where you want to be when trying to create yourself. As a business you want to offer a service and product that is recognizable and different from the rest. As an individual you want to have skills and traits that differentiates you from other candidates. This video is very relevant to today's world.

This is very true. I stay on baton rouge and their are plenty of personal injury lawyer's. But how can all of them be successful? Each law office has the I own special way of catering to their customer.

Differentiation is where the world is today. If you cannot differentiate your product in today's society, then your company will not be profitable. Mimicking larger companies and creating the item to fit in with the crowd will only help you for a short period of time. Phones were created and no matter if it has a touch screen or if its a flip phone, it is still a phone. Computers can change in size, but its still a computer. Coming up with new technology and making the average household believe that they need it will increase sales and keep your company growth where it should be.

This video talks about the sea of sameness and the idea that companies sometimes get caught in the 'sameness trap'. For any business, being different is essential in order to gain a competitive advantage. Sometimes it's hard to find that difference and set your company apart, especially in this economy. That's why it's so important for companies to be innovative and never stop changing and growing. One of the main things this video focuses on is the importance of e-commerce. This video dates itself as old because e-commerce type businesses are definitely commonplace today. Although it's common, that doesn't mean it should not be passed on. It is important to keep up with the competition, but at the same time, always keep on the lookout for ways to escape the sameness trap.

This video talks about companies falling into the "sea of sameness" by having similar products, workers, companies, etc. While it can be very hard to differentiate your company from another similar one, Tom talks about ways to be more innovative and setting one's self apart.
