I really like the idea of 'flatland'. My only questions is if it is really feasible for a large company to implement this style of teamwork. This is a very non-traditional approach, but I think it is very functional on a small scale. I like that firing is left up to everyone and that no one can be fired because they rubbed one person the wrong way. Companies should create firing boards that use this principle and let them go through the paperwork that documents an employees shortcomings and from there determine if they should be fired.

This video gives great advice on how to fire an employee. As with many things, there is a right way and a wrong way to fire employees. I like that the video stated not to let personal feelings or agendas be the reason for firing someone. I believe as a manager or leader with the ability to fire, it would be hard to keep personal feelings out of the equation.

I like valve and it's cool to see a vid about their process. Firings should be by committee. That way the person who was fired will not feel that they were singled out by one manager or because of one employee. Also having a paper trail is good in the case that the people feel they were wrongly fired.
