Innovation is more of trying a lot of things than just having a great idea. Facebook is a great example of innovation. I like how they have the all night times where they just sit there and try things out. This is how Facebook successfully innovates. Sure, the creativity comes first, but once you think of it, you must just try it out and stick with the things that work!

Innovation does not need to be confined to work hours or have a set limit. As Mark Zuckerberg says, his employees just test ideas out all the time, and stay up nights working on things. Being as though Zuckerberg has seen great success from his innovative ideas, I would definitely take his advice. It is important to not stifle innovation, but allow employees the freedom to try their ideas. We know how stifling creativity can have negative effects.

Innovation is more than a great idea. It’s trying different things. Facebook is an example of this where they have engineers work on things they like that aren’t work related. The whole company comes together to participate in the innovation process.

He's so cute. The video didn't explain too much, but it's important to know how to innovate employees to continue to work and to WANT to work. Motivation and innovation to me go hand-in-hand. Everyone has creativity so they just have to be able to express it in some way.

I’m not sure how much I agree with this idea. Yes, I feel like it’s important to always keep innovating no matter what. However, the way Zuckerburg describes innovation it seems like a race where you have to keep up. I feel like this way it’s spilling out a lot of ideas which is good but all of those ideas do not matter unless you have at least one or two good, solid ideas. Also staying up all night and trying to work a code in one sitting sounds exhausting just thinking about it. I’m not sure how good the quality of the work will be if they keep this record up. I’m a big fan of Facebook and their system is obviously working right now, but I’m not sure how much longer they can keep this up.

Mark is right with his idea of just staying up all night and making things without any real boundaries. Usually, the biggest breakthroughs come from a random thought or even a mistake. By staying up with your innovative friends and just basically throwing out new ideas without fear of criticism, you could have some major breakthroughs. This is also why it is so critical that we create a sense of openness and creativity in the workplace and among our employees. Whenever someone has an idea, we encourage them to speak up and present their ideas. Some will be bad but some could be great! Together, you can build an environment of creativity and innovativeness.

I like this video. I think in a way, you have to fail in order to be innovative. Mark Zuckerberg talks about how at Facebook, they sometimes stay up all night at the company coming up with new ideas for the company. This promotes not only innovation but also forces the staff to bond with each other. Innovation consists of trying new things and sometimes this can take years. Innovators try and try and try new things until they find something that works - until they find the next new idea.

That sounds interesting. I wonder if people really like that? And I wonder if that is actually producing results. I guess a lot of people's excusses are they never have the time. So I guess if you give them the time then they might come up with something.

In the clip Zuckerberg describes innovation in a different way than we are accustomed to thinking of it. Not only is it thinking of new ideas but its taking the ideas and bringing them to market first. Failing to quickly bring new ideas and products to market will certainly result in your company being surpassed by other companies. Having hackathons as described or other collaborative events to enhance communication can help companies innovate and quickly bring their products to market.

I like that he promotes creativity with his staff and appreciates what they bring to the table. This is how innovation begins.

I like Mark Zuckerberg's idea on how he gets his employees to be innovative. But does that method always work, especially in a small business? I think Mark should have explained more on how to generate innovation in a small business rather than in a big corporation like Facebook.

As long as you are tossing ideas off one another. That is how you get the ball rolling, it doesn't even have to be about work. But when you start getting creative then there is a better chance ideas while start to flow out and will come up with something new and different.

Innovation isn't just having a great idea. It is also moving quickly and trying new things. Facebook does this by getting their whole company together and staying awake all night trying out new things to see what works. This works for the company, and has helped them to become very successful.

This is a good video! having your employee's work on whatever they want for a certain period of time can make them more innovative. Along with making them more innovative, it makes them relax and take thier mind off of challenging tasks at hand.

I agree with the speaker about just trying new things out and either using them or throwing them out if they don't work. In today's world, companies have to think on their feet, they have to start new ideas and be able to constantly change them according to how consumers needs change. I also think it is important for managers to encourage this mindset. Employees can't be afraid of failure or be frowned upon because they want to try something new. Management must encourage new and innovative ideas in order for them to actually happen.
