It seems to me like managers put on events to see who can process information the quickest. For example, Facebook puts on events to see who can build what and see what kind of ability does your creation have. They have hack off which I assume is hacking systems or hacking other people's systems inside of the company. Little events like this can fire up the imagination and lead up toward new innovation ideas. I feel like any business that hold events such as this it will allow for stress to disperse and a more relaxed feeling to take its place. When a person feels comfortable at the place they work at then they will be more relaxed and innovative moving forward.

TITLE - Mark Zuckerberg: How do you generate innovation?
I think this clip was very short but to the point. Mark Zuckerburg says that innovation is not just having a good idea but instead acting quickly and working on those good ideas. He often has his coworkers pull all nighters with him to work on any project they want. I think this is a good idea to get people's creative "juices flowing". Many people may have different opinions on what innovation is but I am on the same page with Mark on this one, after all, he is the creator of facebook.

Mark Zuckerberg: How do you generate innovation? I like Zuckerberg's stance here. To be able to innovate, you must have an active mind. Therefore by allowing innovation for things that aren't always related to actual work, you are still promoting innovation in the workplace.

I agree with the gentleman about innovating not being anything dealing with work. In order to become a great innovator, one has to become comfortable not in their working environment. With creative juices flowing and then being in a relaxed atmosphere, they can indeed apply whatever ideas they have come up with in their leisure time to work related things.

TITLE - Mark Zuckerberg: How do you generate innovation?
I liked this video about how to generate innovation. Facebook is definitely a company that you would want to take note from when it comes to innovation. They have opened a whole new form of communication that the world now knows as "social networking." I think innovation can be generated in a numerous of different ways, it just depends on the person and what works best for them. For me, I like being in a quiet place, extremely relaxed, with no pressing matters around me.

Trial and error is always on the road to your goal in innovation. You can't wake up and, like magic, there's a million bucks in your bank account. Well maybe, if there was a bank error, but we're probably not that lucky. So to reach a successful point in innovation, we must accept failures as a learning opportunity to rule out what just won't work.

You have to be a creative person to begin building something that you know nothing about. Generating innovation is something that is important in the work place because it gives people the incentive to do well for you and yet still do something that they enjoy. You should always encourage your employees to bring new ideas to the table and know that some of them could actually be applied to your business!

I do not know if I would share this video with friends and colleagues. I feel that talking about innovation is such an important topic that should have spoken of in much greater detail. Especially when its coming from such a big public company such as Facebook in the social media. I just feel that innovation is one of the keys to success in the business world today in order to have sustainability.

Zuckerberg's approach on innovation is great. Sometimes we get caught up in work and don't try out new things and I believe it's important to take a break and change things up. It's awesome that Facebook allows their employees to have a stress free day to innovate whatever they want. This allows a company to encourage employees to bring in new ideas that could possibly better their company.

How do you generate innovation? By taking your college friend's ideas and work and then calling it your own.
Give me Tom from Myspace any day.

Innovation can come from unlikely sources. Not all good ideas and innovations are thought up when workers are on the clock to be paid, some come when least expected like when collaborating with friends. Mark Zuckerberg understands this concept and attempts to stimulate the creation of ideas and innovations through recreational and fun events. The “hackathons” allow workers freedom from their work related thoughts and enable them to bounce ideas off each other. Zuckerberg infers how ideas and innovations are connected from person to person, not just limited to an individual’s mind. This is a pleasant belief as it's hard to imagine epiphanies happening by magic or overnight; all great thinkers thought of good ideas and innovations because they had the proper rearing and stimulations from others and events throughout life.

I think generating innovation by making it fun like Facebook does for its engineers is awesome! They get to build and create even if its not within the confines of the company, just to see what they can come up with. Its a great idea to break the monotony of everyday working conditions and inspiring innovation in your employees.

TITLE- Mark Zuckerberg: How do you generate innovation?
I like Zuckerberg’s approach to innovation. I feel that innovation truly comes from the creativity and culture surrounding a business. Practices must be put in place and actively used to actually influence a businesses culture. Practices such as this can center and unite work teams, which in turn can promote optimal performance.

I thought that innovation was due to someone generating a key idea. I thought that someone had to do this in order to create something new, but according to this video I was wrong. It is mostly about being as fast as possible in developing these new ideas. At Facebook, they train their employees to be on their toes and to innovate. They teach their employees not just how to be more innovative with their jobs, but also how to innovate other techniques.

I like how he said generating innovation is not just about the idea. You can have all the ideas in the world, but if you don't run with it and get deep into it... what good is it? Like he said in the video, doing things fast and staying up late to get ideas and new directions are a part of getting these ideas out there and being successful. Good video.
