Good leaders are able to create luck for their company and earn a high return on that luck. They do so by not just betting big on the luck, but by recognizing the luck as well the potential, and then betting on the sure luck. Leaders with higher returns on luck are able to seize the moments of luck and not allow it to pass them up due to conflicts of interest.

I really like the idea of the video and how leader make their own luck and I tend to agree. Luck is more often than not how you decide to look at things, sometimes bad luck for someone can become an opportunity for someone else. Productive paranoia is something that I am very familiar with because I do it all the time. This is what keeps you up a night thinking of all the things that could happen but not just worrying about them, that is not productive. But actually being proactive and fixing these things so you have less to worry about when you lay down to sleep.

How Great Leaders Make Their Own Luck
Great leaders surround themselves with a productive team of people. These leaders are always prepared to be wrong and have a disciplined back-up plan. This video utilizes success stories from very success people as examples of what these leaders look like. This video was very insightful.

TITLE - How Great Leaders Make Their Own Luck A creative leader is a great leader and the other points that he pointed out or also tips to great leadership. The guy in the video states good points about his three concepts of great leaders, trying to achieve 20% growth each year is amazing and the leader described in the video achieved that goal. Leaders like that are what we need in everyday society. Leaders that can say they are trying to achieve a goal and then go out there and achieve. I know leaders that are capable of achieving there goals like the guy in the video described.

Leaders create their own luck by overall remaining cool, calm, and collected. This video really pointed out that leaders make their own luck through their determination. I think that's completely true. Knowing what you want and knowing how to get it sets the leaders apart from the followers.

Protective paranoia, fanatic discipline, and have empirical creativity. This video talks about these three things and how great leaders possess them. The beginning of the video talks about Bill Gates and how he takes preventative measures to unsure that nothing goes wrong. He prepares for the worst and hopes for the bast. This type of preventative thinking is important because it takes luck out of the equation and puts the leader in control. Discipline and creativity are also important. Without leaders taking risks and disciplining themselves to work hard, there would be no luck.

How Great Leaders Make Their Own Luck
I think it odd how paranoia can affect luck. Leaders to me, are not lucky; it is their strategy that can have that outcome The same goes for bad-luck; one can over think it and have different scenarios, but that is asking for a negative outcome. I do like what they mention about preparation; hope for the best, but expect the worst.

How Great Leaders Make Their Own Luck
This was an interesting video. It list three skills good leaders must have during uncertain times: Productive paranoia, fanatic discipline, and empirical creativity. I agree completely. In this day and age, we are faced with a lot of uncertainty. Leaders who are able to overcome such uncertainty possess these skills.

How Great Leaders Make Their Own Luck
Morton does a great job at pointing out things that make great leaders great. Being a successful leader is not just about have a great idea and putting it into practice or selling a whole lot of a great product, it is about preparing for both bad luck and good luck events. He says the best leaders prepare for what might go wrong, commit themselves and their team to get the job done, and use empirical data to gauge the success of their products and services. A good leader prepares for bad luck events and understands the importance of seizing the moment in a good luck event. This is how leaders make their own luck; they prepare for opportunity.

I have to agree to disagree on this. You can prepare for the worst as well as have all the tools in place to be successful and still have bad luck. It's the luck of the draw. No one has primary control of their destiny. You could win today and lose tomorrow. A lesson that could be learned from this is prepare for the worst but, hope for the best because no one wins all the time.
