Students, Please view and comment on this link of the day - yes, for your education, but also for the points, of course! Watch the video below: TITLE - LEADERSHIP: Servant Leadership Then, post a comment in reply to this discussion thread. Again, what to post? Here are some ideas: + What did you take away from the video? + How does the video relate in some way to your past experience (work, as a consumer, family, school, etc.)? + How might you use these ideas in your own career? Good luck! David

He has a great point there, leaders believe that there part is just to tell people what to do, but where do you play your part as a leader and provide a service. How can you help people in the finance division or accounting division of your firm. How can you as a leader help within the past week or 24 hours. That is a great question alot of leaders need to ask themselves. Well everyone is out here working hard, how can you help and provide a greater service then your everyday routine job.

LEADERSHIP: Servant Leadership
In this video I found that it is important for leadership to take the time to make jobs easier for the followers. I agree that it is important for leaders to cut down their employees' workload as much as possible. However if this is done too much it can enable the worker and production can be lost. I found this video helpful.

LEADERSHIP: Servant Leadership
I like the idea of looking at being a leader as being a servant to others. As an advisor for a sorority, I always say that I am 'serving' as advisor, or 'serving' the chapter; and to me this is very valid. As a leader/advisor I work to help the girls make good decisions, make their calendar of activities, and act as a liaison between them and the national office. I am surely not doing this for money or recognition. I am leading them, because I made a commitment to serve my fraternity. Being a good leader means you must put others' needs above your own.

LEADERSHIP: Servant Leadership
I liked this video. As a leader, you should be a servant to others. You are there to help guide your employees and by being a servant, you are there to help them when help is needed. You sometimes have to be a mediator and help with disputes. Always ask your employees, is there anything I can do to help you succeed?

I like the way this video was presented, he firstly states that yes a manager's job is to make people do their job, but why doesn't the manager ask what he can do to be of help to others? I feel like if a manager is more on the front lines with his employees they will see his leadership and it will motivate them to do better. If a manager tries to help as much as he or she can it will automatically give others some room to get projects or work done. If there are long lines in a store and a supervisor steps up and works the lanes instead of watching, I feel like people will respect and enjoy that supervisor more because they helped out in a situation where he or she didn't have to.

LEADERSHIP: Servant Leadership
This is great advice. Leaders should ask themselves what have done in a daily basis to be of service. Leaders need to motivate employee, as well as better their company. As leaders they also need to be active making themselves useful and helping their team. This will cause a better environment at the work place, because if the manager is available and helps the employees out with any trouble they are having, things can move quicker. Jobs will be accomplished with ease and will leave time to work on other things. It will also motivate them to do better and work harder, since they see the example of the leader.

I understand his idea in being a servant leader. It is a simple theory to me. My interpretation is simply how as a leader can I make your not easier but more efficient and effective. As your leader what are some of the things I need to do so that you can do your job better than normal. A leader is never a servant according to what we already know. As a leader what things do I need to do to motivate you to get the job done.

Not all people who are in leading positions are able to lead their people in the right direction. This video explains how as a leader you need to be asking yourself what have I done to be able to help others in the last day, week, month, and year. It is really important to look at a single over a longer period of time so that you can really see your vision as a leader take place.

TITLE - LEADERSHIP: Servant Leadership
I liked this video because it challenged me to think when was the last time I removed a hurdle for someone or made myself available to serve. Servant leadership is not flashy and often times goes unnoticed, but I believe it is what really counts as a leader and being someone who is good to work with. "How can I make your job or circumstance less stressful or easier" is a great question managers should ask their employees and employees should ask their managers. If we get into the spirit of servant leadership, I think a lot more could get accomplished in the work place.

LEADERSHIP: Servant Leadership This is a little bit of a repeat of another video. Leaders these days are more for helping out your team by making things easier or taken care of obstacles that are stopping productivity than just giving direction.

Not everyone that is promoted to a leader is someone who knows how to lead people in the right direction. This video makes it clear as to how as a leader you need to ask yourself what needs to be done to be able to help others in the past. It is certainly important to look over a longer period of time so that you can truly see your vision as a leader and make things possible.

Being in power doesn't necessarily make you a leader, being a leader is more than dictating. Being a leaders should put you in a position to inspire others, if your're not serving does you are supervising how can you expect anything less than mediocre from them ? I believe the video is saying that you must use your position and power to help others, to encourage growth so that one day may be able to go on and lead those around them. Being a leader sometimes if not all of times should be continuously leading by example and not being made a example.
