Students, Please view and comment on this link of the day - yes, for your education, but also for the points, of course! Watch the video below: TITLE - Wigs.com: Consider the client's perspective Then, post a comment in reply to this discussion thread. Again, what to post? Here are some ideas: + What did you take away from the video? + How does the video relate in some way to your past experience (work, as a consumer, family, school, etc.)? + How might you use these ideas in your own career? Good luck! David

Wigs.com: Consider the client's perspective
While I don't have direct experience with wigs, I feel the customer service focus of this company is imperative in the service industry. I work in the college admissions office, recruiting and counseling prospective students. I always try to put myself in the students' shoes when working with them. How they perceive our admissions process, website, front-desk workers, customer service, letters/emails they receive from us, tours of campus all play into their perception the university and whether or not they will plan to enroll. Good customer service is an imperative part of recruiting, retaining, and graduating students.

I feel like this video is another common sense idea. If a company does not focus on their customer base then they will not do very well. People play a huge part on businesses everywhere in the world. The more and more a company listens to what people like and dislike it will give a competitive advantage in the market. If they ignore what they say then people will be less likely to come back or tell other people about the product they bought. The old phrase, 'the customer is always right' is echoing in my head, because that is all I heard growing up and working in certain areas of a business. If the customer says something they are right even if they are wrong. Pleasing customers allows for more customers to come in and be pleased as well. Depending on how happy customers are with a business opens the door for more people to come through.

Wigs.com: Consider the client's perspective
I liked this video. It reminds us as business owners, we must listen to the customers' wants and needs in order for our business to strive. I liked how she said she has very vocal customers. That is a great place to be. I also like how they have videos and instructions on their website. It seems like Wigs.com is doing something right!

I agree with the message that was presented in the video for service industry businesses. There is a competitive edge if you can keep customers you already have while also gaining new customers who are pleased with the services provided. Often times, business will lose customers because their customer service representatives are rude and do not listen to what the customer is frusturated about. A good customer service team can make all the difference when picking a service for me.

When running a business it is important to consider what the clients perspective is. This video tells the viewer that is is way easier to keep a customer than it is to get a new one. This is why it is so important to stay connected with you clients even if they are just clients from the internet. I feel that this video gives some valid points that any business could use to keep pleasing their clients.

Customer service is the number one focus for any company I have ever worked for. Even high school students who work in retail or food understand that this is a key concept. Especially if it is hard to gain new customers as it is, it's even more important to be able to maintain the ones you already have. If a business cannot satisfy the customers' needs, it becomes pointless to be in the service field because your brand or purpose becomes inconsistent.

Wigs.com: Consider the client's perspective Exceptional customer service is a hard thing to hold on to for a growing company. But is often what makes one company excel over another. My company is one that the customer service is really what we sell. While medical supplies may be the actual staple, we convince offices to send us their referrals because we can promise that we will get the customer taken care of no matter what. If we aren't personally able to provide for them, we find someone who can. Customer service for clients that are going through something hard for them to talk about is especially important. Most times with businesses like these, the customers don't want to have to buy wigs or medical supplies, but they are now forced to. Therefore, by making everything easy for them, they appreciate the company so much more.

I agree with this video in its entirety. The customer is the most important person when it comes to make your business work. Without a consumer base how would you grow or have any success at all? The speaker makes a very great point in making sure that wigs.com takes into consideration what the customer truly wants. When running a business you want to make sure your customers are happy otherwise you could lose them and any potential customers who would have found out about you through them. Your customers are the most important piece of your business!

I agree with the point this video makes. Making sure your clients are shown excellent service that caters to their needs is crucial in maintaining repeat customers. Also, looking at things from the client's perspective can help you understand their needs better.

TITLE- Wigs.com: Consider the client's perspective
In industries such as this I think this concept is extremely important. People can be very sensitive when dealing with illnesses or impairments. This results in businesses requiring emphasis on customer service and client comfort. In my current position I deal with customer service regularly and if I lose sight of the customer’s perspective it jeopardizes my ability to properly manage many situations I face.

I would definitely share this video with friends and colleagues. Thank you Dr. Wyld. I think this is a great video of how a business listens to the needs of the customer. I would definitely relate this to any business in general and especially since we are in a strategic management course where it is so important to have strategic planning in place. So many companies are incorporating strategic planning alongside a crm(customer relationship management program).

For the fashion industry, it is not just important but necessary to look at products through customers' eyes. Fashion strives to create powerful statements representing and empowering individuals wearing its products. If a product fails beyond the target market's majority liking then the product will fail to sell. Some industries can get away with products displaying emphasis on functionality versus style, but not fashion- a product must be both comfortable enough to wear all day and stylish enough to merit satisfaction. At its core, fashion companies must have strong advertisement skills because even the products act as blatant advertisement. People wearing product are not only wearing a statement, but they are creating a statement while wearing the product. Therefore, there are two statements being made: one from the product being worn and another about what kind of people wear the product. The latter also effects who buys the product. For example, if a celebrity I liked wore a particular brand then I would be more inclined to adopt the brand, thus affecting branding/sales. The relationship between product and customer, within this industry, is reciprocal and must be aligned. Otherwise, sales will suffer resulting in a sacrifice to company vision. The selling strategy will need to be changed if an unintended audience was targeted.
