Students, Please view and comment on this link of the day - yes, for your education, but also for the points, of course! Watch the video below: TITLE - Create a Life with PurposeThen, post a comment in reply to this discussion thread. Again, what to post? Here are some ideas: + What did you take away from the video? + How does the video relate in some way to your past experience (work, as a consumer, family, school, etc.)? + How might you use these ideas in your own career? Good luck! David

Horrible video. The video is more concerned with god and unfeasible scenarios, than actually just talking about ethics or morals as a regular person. Clay makes a comment that society will become prosperous and peaceful if they are clear rules that people should follow, and also hold people accountable if they follow or do not follow the rules. He is completely wrong here, because there will never be a set of rules that everyone can follow and be happy, his statement reminds me of Karl Marx's manifesto.
Clay also says that if you are going to think about following the rules or not follow the rules it can be problematic, so you should always follow rules. I completely disagree with his opinion. Following rules without asking questions, is what in the end can lead to ethical and moral problems, because you are not recognizing as an individual if what you are doing is wrong or right. I believe you should always ask yourself if what you are doing is moral or not, regardless of who made the rules.
There are a lot better videos out there with different approaches to the subject.

The man who wrote the article has a great point, as a business person or just a regular individual you want to define what is your purpose in life. I've been asking myself the same thing for many years now and I still don't know, but I came to realize that my main purpose if anything is to give back to people in anyway possible and make my possible be meaningful for people when I die. Whats the point of living if you cant give back even after death because one day we will all die but will you define a purpose for living?

Create a Life with Purpose
I agree with the main theme of this video: as individuals we must identify what gives our lives meaning and purpose. It is important to find what makes you happy and live life guided by moral compass that points north. In regards to business and people, I agree with Clay. Being a good person or business leader is fundamentally about how you treat and affects the lives of others. As a manager we should realize that behind facts, figures, numbers, and statistics lie people. People to whom we are accountable.
I am not going to lie; I don't go to church very often (something my boyfriend and I quarrel about from time to time). I feel being moral and ethical and questioning rules that are outdated or begin to be influenced by unethical people is more important than dogmatically living by a set of rules created by man. Giving to others, making just decisions, and being truthful should be the model to which our compass is unswervingly drawn.

Create a Life with Purpose
I'm not sure how I feel with this video. I agree everyone should find their purpose and live following that purpose. However, I do not believe everyone is going to follow any set of rules. We are have rules in this country and there are a lot of people who don't live by these rules. Not everyone has the same morals. I wish everyone was ethical in business and in everyday life but that is not the case.

I didn't really enjoy this video too terribly much, it seemed pretty much like if you are a person of faith, help people, you will have a good life. His purpose is to help people and make them better every day. He also states to find a purpose in life, see where that purpose leads, then make a decision on whether to change it or stay with that path. This video to seems like it would be common sense. I really didn't have a purpose until this year, because I really had no idea on what I wanted to achieve. I like the road I'm walking down currently and won't be changing it. I do try to help people when I can and try to live my life by the golden rule. I think there is probably a better way to get the message across in another video because this one wasn't that great.

TITLE - Create a Life with Purpose
This was a different video from what is typically posted, but I liked it. I am a Christian and am constantly trying to be a more giving and selfless person, so for me the video hit home. In terms of applying it to business, I thinknt depends on the person you are and the life you are trying live. His ideas and beliefs definitely won't work for everyone because their main focus in life is centered on something completely different. I'm glad this video was included to "stir the pot" a little bit.

I did not like this video at all they look at people to harshly and are quick to judge others. Most of the videos we have watch give tips to people to help improve upon themselves, and this video seems more like it is here to tell you what you are doing wrong. He seems to want to help people become all they can be but his standards feel super conservative.

To live the purpose driven life is obviously easier said then done because how can you define your purpose? What you may feel is your purpose may not be your divine purpose for being placed into the world. All we have to go on is what makes us feel good, what we are good at, and the consequences of doing these things. I assume the answers to these questions determine what I define my purpose to be, and that is what I will live for.

Create a Life with Purpose I wasn't really a fan of this video. Everyone has different beliefs, and the video seemed to say that if you followed all the rules peacefulness will follow. I feel like this goes against what we have learned in business. You should be constantly shaking up the business world. If everyone always followed rules I don't think there would be as many new ideas and creation.

This video certainly was not my favorite. The beliefs of different people are of course going to be different person to person and the video made it seem as though if you followed all the rules of today that peacefulness in everything would follow. I do not disagree that if you follow the rules that the workplace will be a better place but if everyone were to always follow the rules then I think that many of the advancements that have been made in recent years may not have been made.

I was not very intrigued by this video. The ethical dilemmas raised are a bit silly, and many of the points didn't really seem to go anywhere. Also, everyone's sense of purpose is different, so I don't think everyone can relate to the video.
