INSTANT MBA: Forget About Working On Your Weaknesses
It is important to capitalize on our strengths to achieve successes in life. However, I believe it is also essential to better ourselves by working on our weaknesses. I disagree to some extent with the advice of this article because I believe that people can be successful in any field by just wanting to do so, and strengths and weaknesses are just qualities that we can develop over time through the choices we make in life. Everyone is capable of greatness, and our own personality will determine what we will prefer to do in the future. In summary, people can reach their full potential by working on both weaknesses and strengths, and we have to encourage ourselves to pursue our dreams by dedicating the appropriate amount of time to our personal and professional development.

Instant MBA: Forget about working on your weaknesses This article gave me mixed thoughts. In one breathe I agree with it, but in another I don’t. I feel like working on weaknesses is as important as working on strengths. It is good having a team who compliments your strengths and weaknesses, but what if in a particular situation you are the only person available to work on what you’re weak at? I think advancing oneself in every aspect is always good, even if it takes a while to catch on. Strengths are good to work on also, because it is extremely important to stay on top of things. In any given situation, both strengths and weaknesses are important to enhance because being prepared for the unknown in the business world is always a plus. This article was a good read, just gave me mixed thoughts.

INSTANT MBA: Forget About Working On Your Weaknesses
I disagree with article to an extent. I think that if your weakness is communication you should vigorously work at getting better at it. Great communication is vital for successful business, being a manager, and employee. One of my biggest weaknesses is spelling, I work around this by double checking my work, and having someone else review documents if it is very important. I am working at being more detail orientated because I want to be a public accountant and eye for every single detail is very important. Maybe if I was going into a different profession I would not try to bet better at details, but for my choice it is critical.

INSTANT MBA: Forget About Working On Your Weaknesses
I agree with this article that you will get farther by concentrating on your strengths and growing them farther. If you keep all of your concentration on your weaknesses then you will not spend time understanding and growing your strengths. This does not mean you should not understand your weaknesses and work on them. If your weakness is a key part of your current role or position, then you may need to spend more time in that area. By concentrating on your strengths and growing in those areas I have been able to specialize in one particular area in my current job and partner with another individual that their strengths happen to be where my weaknesses exist. This has created a position where the two of us are more successful as a team than either one of us could ever be as individuals.

INSTANT MBA: Forget About Working On Your Weaknesses
I believe as an entrepreneur you should know both your strengths and your weaknesses. I also believe that you should continue to enhance your strengths and you should definitely build your business according to what you are good at. But I do not think you should just push your weaknesses to the side and not dedicate any time to enhance them. When building a business it is important to bring in people who compliment your strengths and weaknesses. Wherever you are lacking knowledge that person will be able to pick up the slack and vice versa. But it is also important to learn from that person what you do not know and that person should also learn from you. I feel this will help your team become more stronger and knowledgeable. This, in my opinion will also make your business more successful.

INSTANT MBA: Forget About Working On Your Weaknesses
I would say that you should not just forget about your weaknesses, but work on them as much as you do your strengths and probably a little more. Not to completely abandon your weaknesses, because you need to know what you can make of them and improve or perfect them. It can be a little difficult, but that is how many people in society today manage through tough parts in business. In some cases, not working on your weaknesses could mean the downfall of a business. I believe that you should perfect your strengths and improve your weaknesses.

INSTANT MBA: Forget About Working On Your Weaknesses
This article has a very good point. BUT I believe that is extremely important to understand what your weaknesses are. Once you know your weaknesses, then you can focus on your strengths to counteract them.

INSTANT MBA: Forget About Working On Your Weaknesses
This might be the first article that I don't fully agree with. It is important to play to your strengths but I don't think you should fully ignore your weaknesses. You should improve what you're good at so you can be great at it, but you don't want to be terrible at some things forever. I'm not saying you should spend more time working on your weaknesses but at least try to improve those areas. Sometimes the areas that we are weak at are the ones that can help us out the most. You need to be able to improve those to an extent to be more successful.

INSTANT MBA: Forget About Working On Your Weaknesses
I really enjoyed this article and plan to take the advice of focusing on developing your strengths opposed to your weaknesses. I know that in high school I was terrible at math and great in English. I ended up spending so much time studying for Math and hardly having anytime to look over English. This led to me getting only decent grades in both, when I could have really excelled in English. I think the same goes for any attribute, whether personal or professional. It is much more beneficial to have something you are really good out that makes you stand out then to be just "okay" at a variety of things.

INSTANT MBA: Forget About Working On Your Weaknesses
I agree with this article to an extent. I do believe that you should work on your strengths and maximize your potential, but I think you should also work on your weaknesses. They say a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. If you allow your weaknesses to get away from you, then it could cause a lot more problems. I'm not saying you have to turn those Cs and Ds into As and Bs, but you don't want them turning into Fs.

I think that a lot of emphasis is placed on working on your weakness and not enough is placed on working on your strengths. I like what the author said about working on your strengths and building a team of people around you who compliment your weakness. Everyone has strengths and weakness that they contribute to a company. In order for a business to be successful, you need a well developed team of people who do compliment each others strengths and weakness so that as a whole your team is successful. I see this is my current job. I am very good with planning a job and seeing that it all comes together well. There are others who can not plan a job but can do the hands on work that needs to be done so that the job can be completed.

INSTANT MBA: Forget About Working On Your Weaknesses
I really like the example this article gives comparing focusing on your strengths as opposed to weaknesses as if they were grades. It is better to focus on making your B’s (strengths) into A’s rather than try to move your D’s and C’s (weaknesses) into better grades. Focus on making your strengths the strongest and then move to find a solution to your weaknesses. I think this makes sense because in the business world, you want to take advantage of whatever opportunity presents the highest potential for growth, as opposed to working on smaller projects which don’t emphasize a lot of potential growth.

INSTANT MBA: Forget About Working On Your Weaknesses
I agree with this article to a point, but building your weaknesses can also help you grow. Strengths are the things you do the best, but weaknesses are the things that need more practice. Sometimes a weakness in business can be a tie breaker for you. It's best to work at improving your weaknesses as well as continuing with your strengths in my opinion. We all have strengths and weaknesses in our everyday lives but that doesn't mean you only do the things your strong at. Sometimes weaknesses can become a strength with enough endurance.

Instant MBA: Forget About Working On Your Weaknesses
I have to agree and disagree with this article. I agree that as an entrepreneur it is very important to realize what your strengths are and how to maximize them. However, I think that you must still acknowledge what your weaknesses are and what you can do to improve them as well. I know in my current position, in order to be considered for other positions with the company, they want to see me not only improving my strengths, but weaknesses as well. I feel as though that is why we have yearly reviews and one on one meetings with our bosses, to make sure we are becoming well rounded managers or business owners. I do feel like you can be successful in business if you have a weakness, but you should never ignore it completely.
