Experience matters only if you learn from it. I think that this is a good idea. The only problem is that many people do not learn from their experiences. They tend to do the same things over and over, and this does not help them grow as a person. He says that judgement more important than experience because it comes from integrity and common sense.

This guy doesn't need to update his resume. He's as the point where he can do what he wants too do. I have had plenty of experience of thing failing. One thing ive learned is that don't freak out. Things will fail. there other one is maybe your not failing, just freaking out and making yourself fail. Two things solve a problem, time and action. If one doesn't work try the other. Think about it.

This was great! Short and to the point. I liked what he said about mistakes, that people use the term experience for their mistakes. We should use better judgment instead of relying on experience because like he said most people make the same mistakes over and over again.

I wish we had more videos with Mike Rowe, I love his show. I've never really thought of him as a brilliant man, mainly because of all the physical labor he does on "Dirty Jobs With Mike Rowe", but even this short 30-second video opened my eyes. He is completely right in saying that not everyone learns from their mistakes. You can have the same experience over and over again, but if you don't use your judgment and weigh the outcome, those experiences don't matter at all.

Experience is important but only if you learn from what you go through. Judgment is also important but I think your judgment is shaped from certain experiences you encounter. I don’t necessarily agree that judgment is the final call because I think you should use experience and judgment in making decisions for situations. Business’ hiring new employees look for people who have experience and good judgment, not one or the other.

I agree with what is said in this video. One could have all the experience in the world, but if the don't look back on those experiences and learn to make better judgments based off their experiences, then the experiences are useless.

I would not say that I agree or disagree with judgment being more important than experience. I think they are both equally important. Using your judgment to avoid a bad situation can be just as important as using your experience to avoid that same bad decision. I disagree when he quoted someone who said, "Experience is just what we call our past mistakes. I want to open a child development center one day. So I am currently working in my second child development center to gain experience about the business. This has nothing to do with mistakes and I have learned a lot. I have learned from this experience, that having poor judgment leads to an unsuccessful business.

ha that's a good one for my next interview! i like the way he puts it. the fact is that many people will actually do a much better job within the first 2 weeks of their initial employment because they want to make a good impression later on they will slow down. once they slow down is the time where they will be building experience but at the same time will be learning how to work incorrectly.

This video reminds me of one that we have already seen, so I must say that my feeling are the same as the first post I made judgement is better than experience, because as stated in this video and the last one experience is gained from mistakes of course it is better to have not made mistakes from the beginning.

In my opinion experience definitely matters more. You learn through experience. The more experience you have the better you will be. Experience is achieved over time. For example the more experience I have working in a bridal shop the better I will be at working in my own bridal shop.

I think both are important your judgement influences the decisions you make, the decisions you make determine the outcome of your situations which will become your experiences. If you make the wrong judgement call and your outcome turns out to not be your desired result then you deem it as a mistake. I know I like to learn from my mistakes because I surely don't want to repeat a negative outcome that I previously encountered if I can prevent it. You use your experiences to rationalize and choose the judgement you will use next time you are in a familiar situation. Your goal is to have a more favorable outcome next time so you can choose to use different judgement next time to change the outcome of your situation to increase your chances of a successful outcome, and without your previous experiences you have a higher chance of failing because that is one less experience you have where you know what the final outcome was, good or bad.

Experience is another name we give to our mistake as stated in the video. I agree with that quote because experience does teaches us a valuable lesson because sometime we have to experience certain things in life in order to foster growth. How can one learn how to ride a bike unless they fall and get back up again but from that experience it teaches one to get back up again. But I like how he puts is that judgment is important because it helps one to make a sound and rational decision before making decision on matters in life.

Judgment and experience definitely go hand in hand. Without experience you can not learn from you past and move forward from it. Everyone learns their mistakes differently and for some it may take longer for them to be able to change it. Without experience I do not think you should judge something.

You should have experience if you are going to be able to judge a situation. without experience you will not fully understand the situation or the task at hand. Experience is key if you are going to understand a task.

I have always thought of the saying " you can learn from your mistakes, or you can learn from other people's mistakes" I agree with what he says in this video. Many times it is not necessarily about having experience but about having good judgement. If you can have both, thats even better! But the fact is, just because someone has experience, it does not mean they have good judgement or that they have learned anything from that experience.
