Students, Please view and comment on this link of the day - yes, for your education, but also for the points, of course! Watch the video below: TITLE - Joe Gibbs: Super Bowl and NASCAR Champion - Make a Game Plan for Business and LifeThen, post a comment in reply to this discussion thread. Again, what to post? Here are some ideas: + What did you take away from the video? + How does the video relate in some way to your past experience (work, as a consumer, family, school, etc.)? + How might you use these ideas in your own career? Good luck! David

Having a Game Plan After watching the video, I agree with what the speaker was saying. It is important to have a game plan in life. Not only in life, but in whatever actions you plan to carry out. This reminds me of the habit, "begin with the end in mind". You will not get very far in life without having a plan or course of action, because with all of the distractions we have in our everyday lives, you are bound to get thrown off track. Also, you should think of the outcomes before performing different actions.

A game plan is necessary in life and business. Game plans allow us to stick to our goals. When you go into work you always want to start with your game plan. If you have goals set and a plan to reach them. If you have a plan you tend to stick to it and achieve those goals you are reaching for. Game plans show us exactly where we need to go in life and business. Determine your goals and then make your plans to reach that goal.

It is definitely always important to have a game plan for your actions. If you don't have an ultimate goal then it is harder to make decisions. And decision making is hard enough without being unclear on what you are trying to achieve.

Mr. Gibbs has made a simple but powerful video. It is very important to organize your team, come up with a good plan, and be resourceful and efficient. He makes very good points about how it is equally important to have a game plan in your personal life as well.

Having a game plan in business and in life is essential. Being organized and having things laid out make it easier for a person to be successful and achieve their goals. A plan helps guide a person in the right direction and keep them on track.

TITLE- Joe Gibbs: Super Bowl and Nascar Champion- Make a Game Plan for Business and Life
This is a good lesson for anyone. Planning is a crucial element to success no matter what field it is used in. It gives an individual direction. This direction may change along the journey but making changes along the way is far easier than getting started without a direction. People without a direction tend to become stagnate and in my opinion standing still is the same as moving backward in that every second you do nothing you are losing time and ultimately chances to be successful. I take on this same thought process in work and in life.

I definitely agree with the speaker on the importance of having plan in both business and life. Personally I have always had a plan for everything I get involved in, the problem comes in when a plan I made fails. What am beginning to realize about life and business is that I need to start planning for the failure of my "game plans." Just so that I have direction in case of failure of an original plan.

I would definitely share this link with friends and colleagues. Thank you Professor! I am going to say that Joe Gibbs was a great NFL coach and a superb Nascar champion! I would totally agree that in life there needs to be a plan in place to have a balance between personal life and career. When these things do not happen there can be total chaos and disorganization. I feel I have made mistakes in my life but I have always been organized and with that being said I have always gotten back on track. Prioritizing is key in being efficient and getting things done in an efficient manner

There must be a plan in life and a plan for everything else. When I was working construction, we had to clear land, build a temporary bridge, demolish old bridge, rebuild it to make it better. Then we would take apart the temp bridge and put the land back just the way it was. If you do not have a plan for that then we would have not gotten very far. You must always be looking 3-5 steps ahead in life. Always look at the big picture.

I think it is extremely important to have a game plan. It is important because when you are going through school your first game plan is to graduate. Then when you get out of college you have to develop what you want out of your life. Otherwise, you will be extremely disappointed because you may not achieve your goals.

Having a game plan for business is one of the most important things to do, no matter how big or small it is. Having a game plan for life sure does make things easier. I've learned in school, having plans of when I am going to do certain homework assignments and when I'm going to study for test I do so much better and get things done a lot faster. Versus when I don't write down when things are due, and just do things whenever I have free time, that's when things get really rocky. It is a lot less stressful when you have a game plan.

This video reminded me what I’m missing in my life, a game plan. I know what short term and long term goals are, but I don’t really have a specific “game plan” to achieve them. Right now I feel like my life is only going to tomorrow, which is going to be a repetition of today. I have to organize and prioritize my things, and come up with a very specific plan that can materialize my goals. And again, this is another example of “common sense is uncommon.”

While it is good advice, I believe it is far too simple! I find it a bit too contradictory and inconsistent with MBA students' ethics. With some sarcasm included, at this point in the master's program I would hope that everyone has a good game plan in both life and business...as I tend to think they do. The reasons they are in college and in the master's program almost proves my point alone. The program is difficult and to survive students must be good at developing game plans. To restate, the advice is good but would be better suited for a younger or less professional audience. Lastly, I take into account my biases of pride in the MBA program, so maybe some students do need this advice. I just think it is the minority.
