I did not know that Fortune 500 made a list of best companies to work for and posted it in their magazine, but as a future graduate and in search of the perfect job, I will be looking into this. As I know someone who works for Whole Foods in New Orleans, I was shocked to hear that their employees think of them as a great place to work as they are an employee buy-in company. Their employees own stock in the company, have say so in major decisions of the store, and also elect their own managers and determine whether or not they remain manager. They strive for excellence because of their ownership of the store, they work harder and at a higher level of standards than the average grocery store. Their decisions are based on what is good for the company/business is good for them so they are committed to excellence in order to ensure successful on a business level which in turn affects their success on a personal level because they are one in the same.

He makes a very good point here. I think it is pretty interesting that the best company to work for U.S. is a grocery store. I would be interested to hear more about them and what they do for their employees. He is basically saying there is no excuse for other companies. Good point.

I feel like this video goes to show that you do not have to be a big company to make it big in the industry. Even small companies can be the best. I would have never thought that a small grocery store would make it on a list that big! I feel that that is awesome and anyone can achieve anything

I was actually pretty surprised to find out that a regional grocery was the number 1 company to work for. I could see how that could be, because my favorite job to this day that I found to be the happiest working environment was a small bakery on the northshore. I had never heard of the store Wegmans, but with such a excellence with people practice as Tom explains, I could see how they were the best company to work for.

Great argument. Really a grocery store is the best place to work at?? I absolutely think it is very useful for fortune 500 companies to have these practices.

This was a great video it shows that you do not have to be the biggest and best company to be the number one best place to work for. I have never heard of the company Wegmens and i know others have not as well. This shows that excellence in people skills really does matter when it comes to the big scale. Excellence is something you set out to achieve and it can happen in the workplace or in your own personal life.

I think it's great that a small company like a grocery store can be on the top of the list of who to work for. It just goes to show that if a company is run well and it's employees are treated fairly that they can become very successful. Most people think that only big companies like Apple and Google can become successful at leading their employees to greatness but that is not the case.

Not sure where to start on this one. I felt that the video was trying to express the importance of employees of companies no matter how big or small. And that having excellent customer service is a key factor in building customer relations, which then brings repeat business and makes for a successful business.

I was surprised that a grocery chain was named the best company to work for. But in a way it makes sense to me because it is a smaller company with fewer employees. I say that because being a smaller company makes it easier for employees to interact with each other throughout the management chain. Management tends to be more accessible within smaller companies. Easy access leads to better communication; better communication leads to happier employees; happier employees lead to better business success!

I agree that excellence can happen anywhere. What you put in to thing you will get out of them. Hard work creates positive results.
