Tommy P raises some good points here. Excellence in people practice can lead to success regardless of industry, company size, or price of products. That a regional grocery store chain can be listed as the best place to work speaks to the value of excellence in people practice.

Employee engagement is a very important part of business, this presentation definitely drives that point home for me. As I hope to run a business and manage people in the future, I can look back to this as a learning point in my experience.

I think it's amazing that Wegmens made the list of best companies to work for. Like the speaker said, when i hear a list like that i automatically think places like Apple or Google. Excellence can be achieved anywhere, and it is essential for all businesses in order for them to become successful. By providing excellent people practices, a regional grocery store was able to add it's name to a list with much larger and more well known companies.

It's surprising to me that a regional grocery store made number one for the best company to work for. Excellence and people practice can take you to the top. I do think that no matter what you sell if you don't have the right people behind it and they don't have a spirit of excellence behind them, it doesn't matter. Especially in the service industry. Whatever you put in to your business you get out of it. The speaker makes really great points.

I think that this video has a really great message. I think that a lot of people get hung up on what they think they can't do because of what their job is or what industry they are in. I think that this wall that people build up in front of possible excellence is really holding a lot of companies back. If a small grocery store chain can make the list of best companies to work for, why can't you? It isn't about what industry you are in. It is about the culture of the business that you are running. Being in the service industry should not inhibit your ability to create a strong and sincere culture within your company that provides for its employees as well as its customers.

I was kind of confused after watching this video.I guess his basic idea is that we should not put limits or restraints on how well businesses operate if a service job can outperform a non service job such as google.

Well that was unexpected. I kind of get it thought. I use to work at Winn Dixie. It was my first real job. And even though the pay was awful and let's face it, who wants to get out of bed on Saturday morning to go to work? Nobody, especially at age sixteen. But, once I was there I had fun. I had friends and talked to some interesting people. Of course there are the people who smell bad and the people who complain about a penny. But most of the people were normal and nice to talk to. Customer service is very important at Winn Dixie and when you treat the customers nice, most of the time, they treat you nicely back. So I get how a regional grocery store could make the list.

It should not matter what type of business you are in, you should always strive for excellence in your company. Like Peters mentioned, many people think that only big, very successful companies can be the "best company to work for" but the 2006 edition of Fortune magazine proved that claim wrong. By listing a grocery store as the best place to work for, people who work in the customer service industry can no longer make excuses, and those in the big companies must step up their game because their competition is increasing. I believe that Southwest Airlines was also voted as the best company to work for in recent years. They are a customer service industry, but they have an amazing business model that pleases upper management and employees. Ultimately, no matter what type of industry you atre in, you should always strive for excellence.

Yeah grocery stores dont count as working in the service industry. People dont come in grocery store drunk late at night telling you the food isnt the right temp. In a grocery store you actually have the option of walking away. There are no dishes to clean. You might have to clean but not very often, and even that mostly happened during closing. Food not rotting on a plate or in a trash can but in a container. Oh and here is something, your income is based on how well folks like your of if there just decent folks. So people who are in the real service industry go ahead and complain. You have earned it and will continue to earn it.

I love that he emphasizes the importance of excellence in people practice. It doesn't matter if its a fortune 500 company or a regional grocery chain, its all about how companies threat their employees and it has a direct impact on your productivity and your profits. Its great that a regional grocery store made it on the list of best companies to work for. God bless the little man

I think it's great that a small company like a grocery store can be on the top of the list of who to work for. It just goes to show that if a company is run well and it's employees are treated fairly that they can become very successful. Most people think that only big companies like Apple and Google can become successful at leading their employees to greatness but that is not the case.

If you want to succeed in life or business, excellence is essential. You don't go somewhere for mediocre service or products. I think it is great that a small grocery store can make a list like that. I would definitely share this video with friends and colleagues.

I think it is interesting that according to the magazine the best company to work for is a grocery store. It is important as a manager to keep the employees happy by being reasonable, no matter where you work. Whether it is a grocery store or a big company, part of the managers' job is to keep employees happy and make that company a good place to work. I can use this is I start my own company. It doesn't matter how big or small my company is, I plan on treating all employees right, and making work a place that they want to be.

I think its cool that such a small company would make such a list. Its shows that no matter your company size you can be a industry leader. I think that this is something that other small companies in that industry can aspire to. Its always refreshing to see an "underdog" succeed, it shows that everything is in arms reach not matter how little you may think you are and it shows that though you may have felt invisible others still noticed, your handwork did not go unseen.
