Businesses today have to constantly evolve to cater to the demographic that uses the business. Choosing to expand is an especially hard decision. What if the boom in customers is only temporary? Sometimes finding the appropriate people to put in leadership positions is hard and one of the entities are worse off because of that.

Expansion of a business can be a tricky process. Expanding too quickly can do more harm than expanding too slowly. Knowing when exactly to expand a business is a key component to its success.

In your business if you are growing at a fast pace is more worrisome than growing at a slow pace. Because if you grow to fast you may not be able to keep up with your quality of the work you want. Because you want your product to be consistent and always be the best quality you can provide. They say as you grow remember why you started your business and revert back to that. This is why you should have a five year plan when you start a business so you have an idea of where you want to go.

Dealing with expansions can be very stressful. Expanding involves having everything transfer from one location to another. In order to expand from one location to another you have to make sure you can handle the other location first. As you grow, you can't diminish the quality of the product or service offered.

This video focuses on one of the most common ideas within the minds of business owners and start up businesses: I want to grow fast and become wealthy! However, sometimes, when we begin to expand, we lose focus on the quality of our product and focus more on the quantity of our product. By no means is expanding a bad thing! I promote expansion in every aspect that you can grow in, but always ensure that the timing is correct. When you do a start up, make that first location a winner. Make your mistakes, find your key points, and build your brand. Once you are able to expand into a second location, always ensure that you maintain the quality of your original product, while ultimately refers back to the vision and mission of your company. Your vision/mission is your foundation. If you begin to stray away from those key fundamentals, your business takes a turn towards the negative and your business could ultimately fail. Focus on quality, vision, and mission, and your company and quantity will ultimately come in its' own time.

Expansion can either help or destory a business. The owner of a business should come up with the numbers he thinks he will need to make to pay for all the costs of opening up a second location. If they owner does not market well in the area, the business will fail. For example, I used to work at The Pita Pit and the owner did no marketing at all, and it was failing. Since The Pita Pit is a chain, and the owner wanted to sell it, it was not hard to find another owner. I was still working there durning the ownership switch and the new owner marketed more than I could have imagined. Business started booming and once he was satisfied that this location was going to succeed, he opened another restaurnat in Mississippi. From the marketing, the business pretty much runs itslef.

TITLE- Dos Toros: Expand at your own pace
I really enjoyed the message of this video. Their attention to detail is amazing and is a great example for all businesses to follow. I believe that greed overwhelms many professionals in today’s business world. It forces them as well as the business around them to lose sight of their core values. Business ethics and values are something that I feel every business should focus on and promote. It not only sets a good example for young business leaders coming up but those currently in high-level positions.

This video offered insight to businesses that want to grow and what to be careful about the most...growing too fast. A growing business has to prepare for future demand. Otherwise, the demand will overload the current capacity and supply will fail.

I would definitely share this link with friends and colleagues. Thank you for sharing Professor! I have actually already experienced this in a way. I actually helped a friend get his seafood business in Harahan, La. off the ground by assisting him in running the front of the house for him. I learned a lot from the hospitality industry. Expanding on Dos Toros that when it comes to expansion it can be very dangerous for a small business venture. You have to remember the simple things of running a business. Always have customer service, quality, and consistency in the forefront of your business plan. These things will make you successful in a restaurant business.

Who wouldn't want their business to expand and become more profitable? Everyone would be pleased with that. Unfortunately, employers try to expand a business too quickly. They see the money signs that expansion could bring and don't stop to think the plan through. For starters, a larger business needs more support and more employees to be successful expanding. Almost every aspect of the business has to change or adjust for expansion to be a positive business move.

Choosing to expand can be a very tricky decision. I loved this video because it seemed like the founders of Dos Toros really took into consideration the proper precautions before opening a second location. I feel that many business owners have the original idea to expand before their first business is even off the ground. I agree with the speakers completely when they describe how their passion for their product drove them into success. It is very important to keep things consistent when expanding. You do not want your products from the later stores to be of lesser quality then the originals. Also, as the owner you need to remain calm, not make and rash decisions without a plan, and definitely not let greed or money drive your decisions.

I found that this video was right on the point. If you expand too quickly, the whole business can crash and burn; that it is better to gradually expand. I witnessed the expanding too quickly and it not working scenario that they mentioned in the video. I worked for a company that had just started up in New Orleans about 2 months before the Hammond location opened. The business owner was also opening up 2 locations at the exact same time. Because of this, he (the business owner) was not mindful of making sure that everything was absolutely perfect before he expanded. The entire company ended up closing down within a year and a half.

I agree that companies should move at their own pace when thinking about expanding. A company definitely has to make sure they know what they are doing before they expand. Expanding can be one of the most difficult decisions a company can make. A move to help a company make money can easily turn into the ending of a company altogether. Great advice.
