INSTANT MBA: Don't Be Another 'Me Too' Player
Mr. Josh Linkner is the author and entrepreneur behind several companies including ePrize, an interactive promotions agency. He is emphasizing the value of creativity and innovation. By creating something new and foreign, of course you are taking a risk, but that will lead to better rewards. He cites Dove's 2006 campaign where they began using "real women" and moved away from supermodels. This campaign was wildly successful because it was different and meaningful. In order for true success to be enjoyed by business people, they must apply creativity concepts to every facet of their lives.

When I read this article, I thought about the whole "me too" quote from it and I definitely think that the author is right when he says we do not need more of the "me too" kind of people in business. I think that it is important for a businessperson to be able to have their own ideas and values, and not to just agree with everything that the other person is saying. No great invention came from someone not trying something new.

INSTANT MBA: Don't Be Another 'Me Too' Player This article makes a number of points, you often see a lot of replicas of the same business strategy when it comes down to companies marketing there products. There are not that many company that are well to take a extra chance to go outside the norm and trying something new or indifferent for what we as custom or accustom to . Trying to set new standard for what to be expected for your target market something new and original is always gold to the public eye.

I like this article because alot of people in a business are like this, but Im not. A manager wants to know what seperate you from everyone else when they hired you. Be creative and open your mind to new ideas when working in a company setting or in everyday life. Dont be a me too player, dont just agree but give your insights on what you think about a topic or explain your reasoning behind being a me too player. Im not saying that a me too player is bad but it lacks ideas and opportunity of different thoughts and opinions that a company needs.

Now a days there are more than enough of the same ideas, I believe the article is saying that people should take a chance in those uncharted waters and becoming something that no one has seeing differentiating itself from its competitors not just in one area but completely. The way the world is evolving there are plenty of solutions to helping are producing a product rather than making something that has already been made, embrace change and become a visionary not following another’s.

Creativity. Sometimes people forget about creativity. They use their creative thoughts when initially forming their product or opening up a business, but they forget the originality once it is set into play. Thinking creative in every part of business is what the author of this article is trying to express. Never turn away from the original roots of how you got yourself in the place you are at. Keep working, keep thinking to try and continue to set yourself and your company different from everything else.

Being an original employee is important when it comes to being set apart from the rest of the group. If you are someone who is just like all the rest of the employees you are easily replaceable. Being someone who is unique and set apart from the rest of the group you are not as easily replaceable. Being someone who is not easily replaceable means that when the company downsizes then you are less likely to be someone who they are going to let go of.

This article talks about being original and having your own say in the the matter. Don't just go with the flow all this time. You want to actually give your own input and have something unique to bring to the group or team. If you are constantly just going with other peoples idea then why should you even be apart of the group. Have your own ideas and bring something to the table. Do not be another 'Me Too' player.

What I took away from this article was that it’s okay to be creative and different to set yourself apart from your competitor. I, myself like to be different and unique. I don’t like being placed in the mold of being like everyone else. You’ll often hear people say, “They’re all the same. Or you’re just like the rest.” Well, exactly what does that mean? In the business world, in order to stay afloat change and diversity is a must. Consumers want to have the option of choosing an option. In high school, I aimed to be different. I wore all types of hair styles and colors. I shopped around until I found unique sneakers and accessories just to be different. Some admired my originally and some wanted me to be conventional like everyone else. In my career, I hope to achieve originality within my business and use my creativity as a way to implement growth. I want to lead and set the tone for my competitive market.

Link #19 Instant MBA Don’t be another “ Me Too” Player
This is an interesting concept. It is very easy for a new business owner to try and
do the same thing that a competitor has done because it worked for them. However
if you start and completely new idea it may just work out way better. Recently T- Mobile decided to change the way people upgrade there phones. You can obtain a
new phone after only 6months of use compared to 2 years. Every phone company
before had the same policy. T-Mobile decided to bring in more customers, they
would implement this idea. I believe it worked well for them until AT&T and Verizon
are now doing the same thing. T-Mobile was being innovative and Verizon and AT&T
were the “Me Too” players.

A niche market is an excellent example of what this article is discussing. I agree with this article, because originality is the single most important part of setting a business apart and often leads to a business's success. If business does not deviate from the competition how will customers notice that business? Each business should have a strategy that will set them apart.

If you want to stand out and be noticed over other companies you have to become creative and different then anyone else. You can not be different from a company if you are always following in there footsteps and mirroring what they do. Like the article said it is a great risk to try something that has not been done, but sometimes the reward is worth it. Taking the easy way and mimicking another company will never get you out ahead of them.

I think that this article is absolutely correct when it comes to standing out and being different in the business world. Nothing big comes to those who think small or agree with others. The way to make big in business is by thinking large with innovative ideas that no one else is brave enough to come up with. If businesses didn't stick there neck out to become better than we would not have the advances we would today. I'm sure that at some point we would eventually arrive to the blockbuster idea through small advances over time. However, its the businesses that think ahead that win the day when it comes to making loyal customers and reap the benefits.

INSTANT MBA: Don't Be Another 'Me Too' Player
Recently I saw an ad who's attention grabber was to "stop using a filter to make your skin look better." This is an example of them taking a "me too" position, however this beauty company is the first to relate to consumers who frequent the social network Instagram. This is a good way to gain customers. However, playing the "me too" game makes it hard to distinguish yourself from the competition.

I agree with Linkner, companies should create products, campaigns, and services that are their own evolution. How can you set yourself apart from others if everything is the same? Make yourself different. Using real women not models was a plus for Dove because everyone is not models. They showed the effect of real women problems.
