INSTANT MBA: Conversations Can Pull Your Business Out Of A Rut
I agree with the article, face-to-face conversation is not dead. While it may be a lost art to some people, conversation is critical when it comes to brainstorming, planning, and networking. Just because you are a member of all the reputable social media sites does not mean you do not need to perfect the art of having a conversation. Without conversation there is no collaborating and more importantly no innovating.

Is there such a thing as face to face conversation in 2013? I’m unsure if the GenY population is aware of the benefits of talking with others, and building relationships. Mr. Grefé seems to be very wise. He makes a wonderful point of how talking with people can give you ideas, build friendships, help solve problems, and in some cases, save some money. Facebook is a way some people have been attempting to mine their friends for information. This can be helpful, but are relationships being built or is it just another on-line data dive? I enjoy talking with people and networking. People are fun! They offer so much variety in life, it’s much better than TV and the internet if you just give them a chance. For all the “techies” out there… People are interactive!

Grefe', in his article, almost contradicts what most of society believes today........that the best way to get good information and knowledge is through the internet. Grefe', instead, explains that conversation among colleagues is often a better method of gaining knowledge. One of the first things my mom told me before I began my career as a teacher was to LISTEN to what veteran teachers have to say. She explained that I should go to them for advice because they've experienced, first hand, just about anything imaginable in the teaching profession. She said that when she was a new teacher-----for the first few years-----she learned so much from a veteran teacher who she truly admired. I plan on taking this advice to heart and using conversation with experienced colleagues as one of my primary ways of doing well in my new profession.

These days when someone does not know something, the first thing out of their mouth is "google it." While the internet is an invaluable source it is important to recognize the other resources we have available to us. A quick conversation with a knowledgeable person can give you exactly the answers you are looking for. Also, they may be able to answer any questions directly. I think this is an excellent way to collect information. Another benefit is being able to see another's perspective on the topic.

I believe that people have begun to rely on technology probably more than we should. I do believe that the internet can be a great source of information. You can find just about anything on the internet. But when it comes to business issues, not many businesses are the same as yours or is having the same issues. Therefore, looking for solutions online may not give you the best advice. Why would you not seek advice within the company, from people who have been around and are dealing with the same issues. Maybe they have already run into that problem and you tell you what they did, or they can just give you the best advice because they know how the company works. A good conversation can be a simple fix for a lot of problems.

Conversations are one of the best ways to get knowledge in my opinion. Most of the time when I'm trying to gain knowledge in any way I read to find out, but I always ask other people take on certain things. When you have a conversation with someone you gain their insight on something as well although you might not like what they have to say about it. It makes you understand a different standpoint on the subject. In the article she referred to social media I might be the only one to say this, but I HATE SOCIAL MEDIA when it first started it was positive and although I do see some positivity I see more negativity. So, in conclusion conversations are usually always better.

Instant MBA: Conversations Can Pull Your Business Out Of A Rut I think that the Internet holds a lot of information when we need a quick answer. Sometimes people for get that the Internet might not give you the right answer or people might think it pertains to what they want to hear but the person posting the answer could be talking about a whole different situation. The Internet had its advantages and disadvantages. It doesn’t have that hands on experience like the people around you have. People need to stop going to the Internet for everything and use the resources that are around them. They can be more helpful than the Internet because you get hands on experience and feedback that bloggers on the Internet cant explain. Also your able to ask them questions and come to a better understand of the how and why behind things instead of the start answer.

A lot of people tend to rely heavily on their own sense of knowledge. However, I agree with this article stating that not information comes from research or non verbal communication on social networks. A form of communication that is not as heavily reliable, face to face conversation, has an enormous amount of potential in business related activities. Standard verbal communication can inspire new ideas by simple sparking the way people think and leading to different realms of conversation and thought process.

I agree with this article because I think people focus and rely on technology way too much to find answers that they forget about good, old fashioned verbal communication. I know that when I need an idea for something, the first thought I search to find is through word-of-mouth. I think people are the best computers you can ever hope to have in life, they are so full of information and it the helpful tips and ideas usually come from first-hand experience! ^_^

I believe that casual conversations with people about business related matters can lead to one coming up with ideas and much need inspiration. I know that knowledge is power. Conversations can also lead to innovative ideas and opportunities. Successful corporation tend to have very knowledgeable and very innovative people working for them, leading their company into the right direction. But i do think that sometimes people can focus a little too much on technology to the point where they no longer know how to do things manually. i know some adults that do not know how to do basic addition and subtraction without breaking out the calculator.

Thoughtful conversations can be an effective way to gather ideas and experiences. Information that we find in the web just keep us updated about what's going on in the world. It doesn't give us insight about the topic. Just a causal business related conversation, knowing the past experiences of people can sometimes trigger you and help get your problem solved.

Today the world is full of technology and the whole world is at your fingertips. Because of all of the technology available and the internet being easily attainable, we are capable of accessing great amounts of information in a very small time frame. As a result, that it the first place business men and women tend to go for advice or information. However, this article reminds you that even though we have all of this knowledge at our fingertips, we should not forget about one of the greatest sources of information we have: other people. Sometimes the best information and advice comes from having a casual conversation with other people.

Today where communicating with someone is literally at the touch of a fingertip, it makes it easy to get in touch with people all over the world. This link of the day kind of corresponds with the previous one about asking advice. With a world, especially a business world, that is constantly evolving, it's easy to get in over your head in a situation where you're not sure what to do or where to go. Before jumping to extreme conclusions and hiring a new manager or making a bunch of staff changes, talk to someone, find someone who can relate to your business or situation and talk through your problems and possible solutions. Just talking out a problem with someone with a new perspective can bloom new ideas and opportunities.

INSTANT MBA: Conversations Can Pull Your Business Out Of A Rut
A co-worker and I were just talking about this concept today in the office. Even though information can now be accessed instantly at lightning speeds through the Internet and social media on computers and smartphones, sometimes the best ideas and innovations actually come from sitting down with co-workers and 'talking it out.' Whether this be to discuss new ideas for the office, or discuss issues we are facing as a team or with each other, face-to-face interaction is the best way solve the problem.
The office where I work coordinates a group of campus student leaders who work with us for an entire year, and every year we bring on a new team of students. Today, my co-worker and I were discussing the fact that the group of students we had this year just did not mesh well. In the past, teams become like family and after spending the entire summer working together these teams create a bond that is undeniable. This year's team is no where near this dynamic. The problem- social media. We watched team members this summer not even talk to one another. They would be in the same room with each other and instead of telling a team member something, or saying how they feel out loud, they would just 'tweet it'. And then, there's the 'sub-tweeting', which is basically being passive-aggressive through social media. Today we actually referred to Instagram and Twitter as that 'other' friend who you tell all your business to, except in this case, your business is out there for everyone to see. Social media can be great in many aspects, but not when it is used as a proxy for real, true interactions and friendships.

Conversation can bring about so many things. The article is very accurate when it states knownledge is at our finger tips, but sometimes the best knowledge comes from an idividual themselves. When you communicate through open thoughts you can see just how much someone knows about a topic. Somethings experience gives individuals answers that not even the internet would know. These types of individuals with knowledge from experience are golden. They know first hand what is taking place and what needs to be done.
