INSTANT MBA: Conversations Can Pull Your Business Out Of A Rut
Being connected is always important for the individual. Conversations allow us to view each other in a new way. Internet has allowed us to communicate like never before, but at the time it seems to me like we are now unconnected. we would rather send text than to call someone, and with Facebook and everything else you can invade an individuals privacy.

INSTANT MBA: Conversations Can Pull Your Business Out Of A Rut
In the world of state governments, budgets are shrinking, and revenues are shrinking even faster. In the department I am currently employed, most upper-management personnel do not want to hear from a mid-level professional (myself) about possible inefficiencies or new ideas about process changes. These executive types would rather hire a consultant to get ideas from other upper-management positions about ways to help streamline governmental processes. Contrary to this train of thought, Grefe’ points out that, usually, the most efficient way to obtain new ideas is through word-of-mouth exchanges within the organization. If my department, and the state as a whole, would listen to employees that are in the thick and thin every day, the possibilities for ideas for streamlining are endless. When ideas start rolling, people start collaborating and combining ideas, and that, in my opinion, is when brilliance happens.

INSTANT MBA: Tackle The Problems That Need Solving Right Now
By prioritizing the issues at hand and determining what you should tackle first, I think you will make effective progress faster, If you are trying to put out all fires at once, chances are nothing will get done. Or you will overlook something bigger that needed to be done sooner. I think this idea is relevant in all life situations. It also will help from gettin overwhelmed or over anxious about what you have to deal with.

INSTANT MBA: Conversations Can Pull Your Business Out Of A Rut
In today’s day and age, people are so quick to turn to the internet for help when the answer is right there staring them in their faces. Person-to-person interaction is always a good way to learn. Personal experience can go a lot further than just obtaining the knowledge necessary to get something done. I feel its better to have conversations rather than go directly to the internet for everything, that way youll learn more about the people around you which will better your business in the long run.

Knowledge flow is incredibly important. You can't learn everything from books, and honestly not all you learn from books is correct. I have been successful in my business by picking the brains of senior instructors and modeling my courses after a conglomeration of their work. Knowledge is open source, use it!

INSTANT MBA: Conversations Can Pull Your Business Out Of A Rut
I like this article's take on knowledge and how to acquire and gather it. In today's society, we typically look to avoid direct conversations that make you seem ignorant. With the internet being endless amounts of data, we have the perception that we can know anything by looking it up and there is no need to ask questions. However, this is a flawed philosophy. I think the best way to gain knowledge is to talk to individuals and take in what they say. Talking to people that are fully immersed in your business are more likely in-depth view that can provide more information than anything you can find online.

I understand he is saying face to face talk can not be replaced. I do disagree with the author saying thoughtful conversation is the end all. We have all this knowledge at out finger tips why not use it? Until recently information was not out there like it is today. Just think of some of the things our ancestors believed in that seems silly today. Back then it was fact to them, this is the problem when people are ignorant and talk like they know it all.

Communication always seems to be the biggest key to running a successful business. When we communicate, we are exchanging ideas. When you are able to generate a flow of ideas, it is hard to remain in a rut for very long.

I agree with what this article is saying. Personal experience can go a lot further than just obtaining the knowledge necessary to get something done. Someone with personal experience can likely give you the bad with the good. Where someone just obtaining the facts will more likely only be able to tell you just the basic knowledge they acquired through the internet, etc. Word of mouth can be a very powerful tool in business

This post talks about how you can learn from a conversation and not just from online or in books. Information is so easily accessible online. It says how you can gather information about what’s going on in a way you can’t from looking at raw data. Giving you the ability to notice the next big trend or what people are looking for. I do have to disagree with them when they say that the technology can’t give us all the answers that talking to people can. That may have used to be true but today companies like Google are using their massive search engine to predict trend using simple algorithms and accurately.

INSTANT MBA: Conversations Can Pull Your Business Out Of A Rut
Asking questions is the best way to create conversation. Casual conversations are normally when problems are resolved and communication channels opened. When you finally realize that casual conversation is not pointless, you can help your business out more than you could ever realize. So don't be afraid to ask questions about anything, they say there is no such thing as a stupid question.

After reading this article, yes conversations can get a business out of a rut. With information everywhere on the web, people with just data knowledge may not suit the bill anymore. Someone who ask questions and comes up with new ideas in conversation will be a better hire than someone who is straight laced. The ability to have conversations with other business professionals and develop new ideas and forms of motivation is crucial in today’s workforce.

INSTANT MBA: Conversations Can Pull Your Business Out Of A Rut
I find it extremely interesting that most of the "links of the day" apply to the same ideas, Steve Jobs discussed in his biography. Jobs wanted to maintain creativity at Apple. He noticed that innovation started to fall behind. When he was creating the Apple campus, he created two huge bathrooms on each floor (one for women and the other for men) . Why is that a big deal, you might ask? This is because the building was nearly 3 million square feet! This allowed people who haven't seen each other in weeks or months to "bump into each other". This allowed people to spark conversations with each other and increase creativity. This goes along with the idea of the article, "conversations can pull your business out of a rut". It was successful at Apple, making them one of the most successful companies in the world.
