I think that leaders are both born and made. It takes a certain kind of person with a certain kind of personality to become an effective leader. Many people have the personality of a leader, but only those with the right set of skills become effective leaders. These skills are what take a person with the right kind of personality and make them a real leader. Skills are learned through experiences and training. I agree with the video's message that leaders are both born and made.

I agree 100 percent. I think it is so important to surround yourself with people who better you. The good vibe of others is so contagious. You want to be more like them, which in return makes you a better person. I feel very strongly that leaders are made. A leader can not be born. It is a set of skills that you acquire that in turn, lead to your success at leadership.

I don't think leaders are born at all. I think they are produced as a product of their situations and their environment. Maybe they have parents that are leaders or maybe they grow up in unfortunate situations and as a result want to inspire change in others. It takes a certain level of confidence and drive to be a leader and I don't find that those are genetic traits.

i am a firm believer of you are who you hang out with. Whenever you are around sucessful and hard working people it makes you thrive to become better even if you dont realize it since it just seems natural. Of course some people are born with great leadership skills but that also comes with how you were raised and who you have been surrounded or those skills could potentially go to waste.

To a certain extent I think a lot of leadership qualities are born into those who will become leaders. But mostly I believe heroes are made through their attitudes, drive, experiences, and how and with whom they choose to spend their time.

I do not think I necessarily agree that people are born leaders. I believe that some people are born with advantages, like mentioned in the video (height, race, sex). I do agree completely with the second half of the video. Leaders are made by the challenges they face and the people they encounter or surround themselves with. I think that is why every leader is different. There is not a generic type of leadership. Every leader is different because they have faced different challenges and have had to deal with different situations.

What i took from this video that it is about who surrounds you and who motivates you. You should try and surround yourself with positive and helpful people that are going to push you in the right way. From personal experience i had to stop hanging around some friends to make myself better and to make my life better. In your career this could be a vital key into moving your way up in your profession.

That is very true, 'show me your friends and i will show you who you are.' I don't know if that is the right structure of quote, but I do believe in the concept behind it. I think leaders feed off of each other, students learn from teachers, children from parents, business leaders from other leaders and hence forth. Learning by association in business is an important principle, the network a business person has or connections. Mostly come from surrounding oneself with like-minded or accomplished individuals.

I think that some leaders are born in the sense that they may have grown up around other leaders and been surrounded by strong personalities their whole life so in some aspect they already know how to be a leader. However I think regardless of what you're born into you can always learn something from those around you and grow as a better leader because of them. You can be born as a leader but I think you have to practice and learn to be a great leader.

When I was a coffee shop manager I always looked for good employees. They made me look better to upper management and the current employees like the people I brought on. Thereby giving me more respect.

It is true anyone can become a leader. Leaders usually start from the bottom and had to work their way to the top. Leaders tend to learn the best ways of operation by doing them themselves, when they were not the biggest in the hierarchy.

I believe leaders are definitely born with certain traits that make them dominate in the workforce, but I also believe the key to being a successful leader is learning how to utilize those traits. Leaders would not be leaders without the experiences that have molded them, or without the people that have helped advance their careers such as teachers, mentors, or coworkers/bosses.

good video, but doesn't have very much content. i agree with it though. i have two sayings that come to mind on this matter the first is from the bible that says "as iron sharpens iron, one man sharpens another" i think that's what he was getting at in the end of the video saying that he seeks out people who will make him strive for greatness. the other one is "you can be hooting with the owls and soaring with the eagles" i mean if you expect to be successful then maybe it would be a good idea to surround yourself with successful/driven people! good video tho!

This video has good points. It also removes the excuse not to become a good leader by saying they can be made. Often times people fail to reach there potential because they do not believe they are capable of going beyond a certain point and shoot for average. Additionally, the suggestion to surround yourself with good people is one I find many people who have not attended higher education fail to see. Many bright talented people believe they know it all and never reach there potential because they are never willing to learn from people with more experience or knowledge in a given field.

I personally believe most of the tools needed to be a leader are born instincts. I believe this because even if you walk onto a playground with a bunch of toddlers there WILL be a leader(S). You will clearly be able to spot the alpha male/female. Some kids are just born with the ability or raised with it. Being a leader deals greatly with confidence which has to be obtained at an early age confidence not arrogance. You can learn traits to be a better leader but if most of your life you have been a certain way its hard to change for instance Martin Luther King Jr. was a leader during a time where he was oppressed he didn't learn those traits he was born that way.
