The guys hates on ho-hum. Ho-hum being a mediocre establishment environment. He talks about how burger king back in the day or maybe even in the modern day is just a mediocre business. Instead the ideal environment needs to be "popping". It needs to have that something special. If it doesn't and its just ho-hum then it is close if a complete failure.

Like all businesses differentiation is the key to competition. Being a business owner of a housecleaning company, being different than the competition is hard. Besides having OCD and taking pride into cleaning, there is not much more to do to difference yourself from the competitors. However, being reliable, honest, and building a strong friendly, but professional relationship is important. But for most companies, being able to differentiate their products from competitor products is important to become successful.

Extraordinary is the key to not only a successful life, but also a successful business. This video about Burger King is right. No one wants to be ordinary or live an ordinary life. The same goes for business. No one wants to have an ordinary business. Everyone wants to strive to be the best. We want to beat our competition. We want to be extraordinary. But todays markets are so saturated that we are swimming in a world of "ho hum." I take away from this video the importance of being extraordinary. Through this example I can tell that being extraordinary is easier said then done. It is a constant battle in a quickly changing world.

This video was interesting in terms of how a simple concept can be used more effectively within the workplace. Being unique definitely has its advantages, however, it is possible to get too far from the norm. Being too radical has affected some business in a way that it hurts their sales and their ability to attract a large enough market share. Some have gone so far as to be deem weird and this can leave the public with a unfavorable attitude towards everyone participating with the company. Despite this, the idea of being different is generally a good one, and it should not be overlooked by managers.

I believe that every business should stand out; it can be the success or failure of the company. What makes Walmart distinctive is the customer satisfaction. Walmart currently does price matching and many stores do not. I visited a local Kmart and I tried to get an item for the online price. I was totally shocked that I could not get the item that I wanted for the sale price. So, I decided to ask if they price match and of course the answer was no.

I agree that there are problems associated with delivering just adequate products and services. Many adult Americans have monotonous lives that revolve around a cycle of working and consuming; forced to stay in the "sea of ho-hum." When people find a place that can awaken a sense of excitement or curiosity, they are generally very eager to visit that place frequently. They will also tell other people when they are impressed and word of mouth is an excellent marketing tool. I agree that all business professionals should strive to be better than fine.

To really make your business grow and thrive, you have to have something interesting about your business. Every business should have a quality that other business's don't have. It should be picked over other business's. This idea is a simple concept but is something that is very important to any business.

I think he treated his business like people treat there clothes. They want to be unique which would make people look at them more. More business have started to adopt this process which is the best way to get your items look at, maybe even sold.

Being unique and extraordinary is what sets a business or a person apart from others and that is so important in the times we live in. Business's that succeed don't have to be extraordinary but the majority of really successful business are ones that have something to offer that other business' don't have. As a business major, I strive to be a part of something that is different and extraordinary from other companies. I wouldn't enjoy being at a company that is mediocre because it just isn't special and it doesn't stand out from other places of business.
