Who wants to be ordinary when you can be extraordinary! I agree that businesses are settling for just what works. Why not create things that inspire and change the game? The first smartphones where a good example of going above any beyond. People have the power of the world wide web, their telephone, the messaging service, their email, and their camera all in the palm of their hands. Its really amazing if you think about it. unfortunately it is harder for business to be extraordinary because society has been spoiled to inventions smartphones, but it doesn't mean they should stop striving for excellence.

I honestly don't like Burger king. They obviously run a good business because they are all over the world. It is important for business to really pay attention to their products and quality because that is what people see and people want quality. Its is always best to present yourself in a high quality matter... you need to wow people and be original. I manage a hair salon and we are definitely different from any other salon in our area. people always comment on how nice and comfortable they are in the salon. We make sure that every client is treated with the best of care and look awesome before they walk out the door. I think first impressions are the most important and I will always strive to deliver the best quality to each and everyone who walks through the door.

For a business to be sucessful they need to make it appealing to customers by having better prices, better stock, better quality or even the better location. These are things that will be forever changing since the market changes and newer products are coming out. This makes me think of Raising Canes and how it came about. It started as a project in a business class and the professor said it would never work just selling chicken because of the competition of other fast food resturants having a wider variation of foods but it still became a huge sucess. Raising Canes doesnt have the best variety of food and thats not what its known for but the quality is much better than what you will find at McDonalds or Burgerking and for me that is more important.

This would be very useful for people who are trying to find a job. In an interview, the most important thing is to stand out and be remembered. This is also useful for small mom and pop shops. You want to stand out to new customers and differentiate yourself from the competition. Most businesses are OK with being mediocre, but the ones who go above and beyond are the truly successful ones. I like this video because the message can be applied to all aspects of life.

The guy in this video raises some compelling points. He says that 'ho-hum' or ordinary may actually be worse than awful, and I would have to agree with him. If your business is providing a ho-hum experience then clients and customers will not differentiate you from your competitors and you will be quickly forgotten. Businesses need to strive to stand out and create a memorable experience, just as students need to do so when applying for jobs or trying to work their way up the ladder in the business world.

What i took from this video is be different. Try new things dont accept to social norms and be a "Ho-Hum" type of place. Bring something fresh and new to your company. Just because everyone else is doing the one same thing does not mean you have to. As an experience i see this everyday, just people in the way they dress the cars they have everyone is being different and trying new things. Everyone wants to have the newest and freshest things on the market. In my own career i would use this knowledge to be extraordinary and have a new fresh feel to my career.

I agree that uniqueness and being different are very important in business development and success, yet I feel like sometimes being ordinary is not such a bad thing. Ordinary to me represents stability while being unique represents risk at a certain level to me. I have an accounting and finance degrees from Texas, whenever I graduated I wanted to be unique and start my own thing. But bills and the reality of life turned me into a job seeker and before long i worked for someone as an accountant. To me that was very ordinary and i hated that i was just another accountant. Am slowly realizing that it will take a lot of hard-work, innovation and execution on my part to be unique. This video is good, but it lacks in the fact that the 'extraordinary people.'and businesses are rare because it takes a lot to be extraordinary and that there is no template for that.

With the business world changing and evolving as fast as it is, it is very important to not be "ho-hum." There are so may businesses that are so similar that most of the time people just chose whatever is most convenient or closest. I feel like this video can also be said about people. For example, when apply for a job, do you want to be like everyone else, a "ho-hum," or do you want to stand out, be different? Many times employers see so many applicants that eventually they all start to look and sound the same. You have to have something that makes you stand out. You want the employer to remember you. Whether it is by something on your resume or a little pop on your outfit. Ultimately, being "ho-hum" is never going to achieve the success that most business leaders want to accomplish.

Everyone sets their own goals. If you are CEO of a major chain like Burger King you shouldn't expect anything extra for doing your job. Having all the stores up to spec should be your main priority. And being that I'm sure they will all never been up to spec at the same time one would never expect a 'ho-hum' occasion. Notice how it said former ceo?>..

I thought this video did a good job at explaining the importance of having your business stand out. Even if you have a company that is doing fairly well what's making it different from your competitors if people aren't wowed by it or talking about it? It's very important that you make your business stand out from others so that customers remember you and keep coming back as well as bring new customers in to keep your business growing.

For business to not only survive, but thrive they need something that stands out in the crowd even if it's just one skill or attribute that they have perfected and made their own. Consumers don't want to go from store to store and see the same products or feel the same vibes; they want uniqueness and they want to be sucked in by that special trait. As a consumer myself, I don't want a bland shopping experience. I want to be drawn in with a unique business structure or a distinct product.

hmm this brings up a good point. a big part of this video talks a lot about individuality and making that work. its vital in the united states not only to be functional but to be different. and not to just be bread and butter. people want to be wowed. they want to be a part of something that is breaking new ground. we don't like being bored. one of the biggest parts of leadership and success is excitement and passion. human beings run off of emotion we naturally lean towards that side of things so why not use that aspect to get more people in the door in a business!

Companies shouldn't aim at average they should strive to be extraordinary. Successful, thriving, long living companies do so by being different. Starbucks isn't ho-hum and it has served them well. By settling for ho-hum companies essentially sacrifice there future just to fit into the market. Successful companies tend to be extraordinary in some way whether it's price, service, or atmosphere and those that combine the three set the bar going forward.

This video is okay. i understand what he is trying to get across but he didn't do such a great job delivering in my opinion. Yes it is good to be different unique etc. I don't think he really stated that i felt he could have summarized it with something like that opposed to saying it would be better to be worse. That's kinda like saying no one notices the average working individual, but we all notice the mass murder. Kinda seemed to be a flawed ideology but maybe that just me i don't know.

The idea of being sure to stand out and be memorable is a very helpful one. I can understand the frustration of mediocre when being passionate about something. It was a very interesting point.
