Distinction is key. Being different and setting yourself or your business apart from others is of utmost importance. It doesn't take much to be normal or ordinary. But being ordinary can be boring and bland and even forgetful. Making yourself or business extraordinary and unique will make someone else remember you. You will be memorable and leave a lasting impression. It is important to show that you are not like anyone or anything else and that you have something to offer that nobody else does.

Businesses don't want everyone else's products or services to be the same as theirs. They want to distinguish themselves from everyone else. If they do this well they will be very successful. The same applies to applies to students looking for jobs. We need to be more than "ho-hum."

I really liked this video. Distinction is key in every business whether the business is Burger King or a diamond jewelry store. Every business needs to pop and stand out and be extraordinary or else your just doing what everyone else is doing. Consumers want something new and exciting and different. When a business can find its niche I believe it will become successful and it will overall be a better company.

I will definitely share this video with friends and colleagues. Thank you professor. I have taken many great things from this video. My family and I came to this country from a third world country and have embraced America with all it's beauty. The work ethic that I have and the positive attitude that I portray are from a great family upbringing. I show this on an everyday basis on how to embrace people and be unique and extraordinary. I think in life you have to stand out from the rest in order to be recognized and be successful.

If you are starting a business this is a key to ensure that your company will stand out. You want to be set apart from your competition. You want others to come to you and say "wow", that means you have made an impression on them. You don't want to be like everyone else and have a normal life or business. The same can go for us students when applying for jobs. think about how many applicants that manager sees every week. You need to make your self stand out of the crowd of faces and become extraordinary to that person. So they will remember who you are and possibly get the job you were wanting.

This video is relevant to more than just businesses around the globe. We, as individuals, also want to be labeled as more than "average". We want to leave this world and have people say, "He/She was one of the greatest individuals of all time. He/She changed my life and I am inspired by their influence." As business leaders, we are always saying that more is better. If we can make more stores or more products, we will be more successful. I don't necessarily think that is true. Whenever we begin putting our focus on multiple aspects within our business or personal life, everything begins getting less attention and we lose quality, and simply gain quantity. In our own lives, we should take those 2 or 3 things that we are strongest with and develop them into attributes capable of changing the world. Changing the world is not always because of multiple decisions or products all working together. The iPhone debuted in 2007 and completely revolutionized the entire phone world. If we possess only two strong qualities or twenty strong qualities, ensure that each is developed with the highest quality and care, and everything else in your life should fall into place and you can achieve greatness, using those qualities that you have perfected.

In business, it is important to differ yourself from everyone else. CEOs, presidents, and founders do not want to see the same pitch ideas over and over again from day in and day out. It is important for business owners to be different from all the others if they want to be noticed and succeed later in the future.

Defining your self and your core competencies as a business or as an individual is a key element in successful differentiation. One must always know and understand their best qualities in order to strive for a title such as extraordinary. I really enjoyed his “ho-hum” reference because it does a good job of depicting mediocre performance. In today’s society no one wants to settle for “ho-hum” because there are often substitutes that depict extraordinary.

I really like this video, industry spec. doesn't mean your business is exceptionally great. Complacency is a huge problem with businesses for sure! What sets you apart in the business world is consumer feedback on the products and services provided. A lack in effort in providing the best consumer experience can be recognized and leave a lasting impression. As the former CEO of Burger King described, they did it right and it was still very ordinary. Having distinction is key, but the positive reception to each distinction is vital to success. This is where having a good marketing team will come in handy.

Businesses have to be more than just ordinary if they want to be successful. They have to find that one thing that would make them stand out from everyone else. Consumers are attracted to businesses who have that “wow” factor and that may do things different. Once a business finds that they will become extraordinary to their consumers.

A company needs to be more than just okay. To really make a business grow and thrive, there needs to be something interesting about your company. I feel like it needs to have a quality that sets it apart from other businesses of the same nature and makes a customer want to go there over other businesses. Like he said in the video, it’s almost better to be awful than to be great because it’s important to have your company be known. However, it’s obviously the best to have your company be known for the positive things about it. This idea is a simple concept but definitely an important one.

This video is a testament to striving to be extraordinary at whatever profession you dedicate your time to. Gibbons states that we swim in a sea of mediocrity nowadays and he implies that its what the general public is used to. Gibbons wanted to create something that stood out, something that portrayed something more than the norm. This is something that we should all take to heart and run with, we should all want to be a part or create something extraordinary, even if the profession is very ordinary in nature.

For businesses to succeed and make money, they need something that sets them apart from other like businesses in the area. I work at Tommy's on Thomas as a cook and I think it is one of the busiest restaurants in Downtown Hammond, I think this because I think the atmosphere as well as the food sets us apart from other restaurants in the area. Also, a thing thats sets us apart from other restaurnats in the area is the food. Yes, there are a lot if pizza restaurants in the area, but not like Tommy's, with our best selling Buffalo Breadsticks which those alone set us apart from any other restaurant because no other restaurant has that item on their menus.
