I like this video. I think an employee should be given a time and date on when a job task need to be completed. If the employee knows how to get it done and can be flexible on his job then allow them to have the flexibility while they are working.

I personally do not like working from home at all! I feel like being at home is a crutch to me when I am trying to get my work done and I am constantly finding other things I "need" or would rather do around my home. I think the advances in technology has tremendously evolved the business world but I also think that it plays a crutch for some people. I am a person that likes to work in an office space and be surrounded by successful driven business people like myself.

Technology has changed the way in which we live and the way in which we work. I remember when you used to have to watch your favorite t.v. show from your couch at the exact time it came on t.v. or else you missed that show. If you had to get up to use the bathroom in the middle of your show then you might miss a really important part of the show, never to be seen by your eyes. Technology has changed and so have we. Now you can watch your favorite t.v. show on your phone while your walking down the street, or bored at work and if you need to stop the show, you just pause it and come back to it whenever you want, and you missed nothing. Some say this is a great thing and makes our lives easier, others say it makes us as people less productive and disconnected. So I guess depending on which side of the fence you are on on this could be a insight on how one feels about flex-work. Do you need that routine of waking up and knowing you have to be at work at a certain time, you need that human interaction with others at work to feel connected, you work diligently at work because of the fear your boss could walk by your desk at at any time, do you like knowing what time your getting off of work everyday because then you can plan what you are going to do with the rest of your free time? Or are you the opposite and do you like the idea of sleeping in an extra hour because you can do your work anytime, does the though of human interaction mostly aggravate you and you are far more creative in silence or sitting at a bench in a park with a view, do you work better while working sporadically throughout the day and night and on weekends while doing personal activities in between, do you like knowing your not getting off of work at the same time as everyone else so you can go sit in gridlock traffic to get home. Every individual is different and while flex work may sound great it may not be the best alternative for every employee. If a business is able to offer this to their employees, it should the employees decision if they would like to work in the office or "out of the office" If employees choose to work 'out of the office" they would have to be monitored to eliminate taking advantage of their use of time. When employees are working "out of the office" they could log in to their company's employee website from their phone, pad, laptop, or home computer and the company's website records their keystrokes, or clicks to manage productivity. Those employees who can meet the productivity quota can continue to work "out of the office", and those employees who cannot meet the productivity quota have to report to the actual office to complete work assignments.

I think that an employer should be able to decide where he or she would like to complete their work at. As long as the work is being done correctly it should not matter how or where it's being done just as long as it is.

In this video it says that 71% of the work force is not happy, and it is because of the way it is setup. ? That people can be happier with a open feel environment and changing desk and walls around. This is stupid, people will always have a problem with something in life and without a control problem and a sense of work it that people can do,then u devoid people of life. Life is not defined as being happy in everything but making decisions that might come as hard being places we don't want to be. But your goal is achieve by achieving others goals which was not your intent, and in force connecting you to something bigger.

It's crazy to think that 71% of the world is not happy. I think our society is so focused on technology that it is normal to only focus on technology at home and at work. It is easy to get caught up on the internet or in responding to email and answering voicemails. Technology is nice in the aspect that it gets things done faster and more efficiently, but it hampers employees social skills. I think a lot of people are able to send an email but would have a hard time discussing what the email says face to face with the person. I think that office floor plans are important for the environment of an office. I would potentially like to work at an office with an open floor plan to make it a more collaborating workplace. I also would like to work in a place that has flexible working because I think that is important for me to be happier in my job. There has to be a good balance though between the flexibility and the structure of the company so it is still successful but not uncomfortably rigid.

Working from home is not for everyone. I know it is not for me because I need my work life and personal life separated. I would constantly be distracted, missing deadlines, and unmotivated.

The video describes business owner’s needing to trust their employees and “just let go”. I think that actually doing this is pretty unrealistic unless it only pertains to specific job roles such as upper level management or research and development. Our society today teaches people to find the easiest and quickest way to achieve a task, which a lot of times leads to lower quality and satisfaction.

Personally I do not know if I could work from home. I know I can not study from home. There are way too many distractions and I get to procrastinate and it is aggravating. So I see how it takes a special person to be able to work from home. Being in the right space when you are working makes you the most productive and successful. I think the video was a little fast and had many illustrations that sort of distracted me from the lesson.
