INSTANT MBA: OpenSky CEO Says Leaders Should Run Their Businesses Like An Orchestra
I do believe that leadership is very different than entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship is someone with a great idea, but leadership is someone who inspires you and enables you to use your potential. As for Caplan, he believes “entrepreneurs should be like music conductors.” That they play an important role by leading, but that the symphony makes the show. I agree that a good leader should bring their employees together to make a team because if you don’t have people work together then it will only be a matter of time before it falls apart.

I like this analogy. When the only thing you are worried about is how the people you are leading perform then you will have a good business. You aren't worried about being the big show, but if you are willing to put together the group that performs the big show perfectly that is just as good.

The analogy here to compare the leader to a music conductor is great. If leaders guided employees while running a business then the business should be very successful.Leadership is the ability of people to coordinate and get things done, so every entrepreneur must have some leadership skills to succeed in their venture. We have quality people, our leadership simply gives the troops the tools they need, the right people to collaborate with, and gets out of the way, guiding when appropriate, facilitating when needed, and cheer-leading/ coercing when necessary.

But with one clear leader, proper timing, and placement a business can function at maximum potential. A business needs to have clear guide line and follow those guild lines.

INSTANT MBA: OpenSky CEO Says Leaders Should Run Their Businesses Like An Orchestra
Caplan is spot-on with his advice. Leaders are seen, but they lead their team to greatness by building individuals into leaders themselves. The harmony in a well-oiled machine led by a precise “conductor” is paramount to best business practices and outstanding growth within the specific business sector. Also, the harmonious workings of a properly led team of employees builds high morale within the ranks, keeping turnover lower.

Think of your business has an orchestra. Make sure all the instruments are sounding like they should. A mistake can make a business suffer severely. You want your business to grow, but if you cannot director then it will not.

INSTANT MBA: The Best Work Cannot Be Achieved With Negativity
If I could paste this thought into the mind of a specific manager at our company, I would! I feel like she is always complaining about what she has to do or not having time to do it, instead of just doing it and being happy she has a job. It sucks the life out of people who work with her, because no matter what comes out of her mouth, it is negative. It's crazy how much negativity can come from one person. The worst part is she doesn't think she is negative. She thinks she is just realistic. That is not the case. It is all about how your deliver your words and the outlook you have on situations.

INSTANT MBA: OpenSky CEO Says Leaders Should Run Their Businesses Like An Orchestra
This was good article. I've never thought of running a business like an orchestra, but it actually makes a lot sense. Just like an orchestra how every instrument has a different sound, or different part of the music. Everyone has to be willing to wait their turn and play their part. Once everyone is operating together at a steady pace, now they can make their business a success.

INSTANT MBA: OpenSky CEO Says Leaders Should Run Their Business Like An Orchestra
This article conveys an interesting message on the subject of leadership and entrepreneurship. Both are integral parts of creating a new successful business. It is necessary to have entrepreneurial skills to be able to take risks and develop a strategic plan. It is also equally as important to have leadership skills to be able to guide the employees through the decisions.

Instant MBA: OpenSky CEO Says Leaders Should Run Their Businesses like an Orchestra
This is a great article on how leadership is effective in you business or team. Just like when an orchestra inst in sync it creates bad music, a business that isn't in sync it does not produce harmony. Leadership is what hold a company together and makes good companies great.

Entrepreneurship and leadership are different. Entrepreneurship is more along the lines of putting the original idea together. Leadership can be classified more under the lines of maintenance. Making sure the idea can succeed after it becomes big enough to where it needs more people in order to succeed. Both will be needed at one point.

This article makes me see the difference in leadership and entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship comes more from the inside and involves different personality characteristics. Leadership is someone who wants to lead others to success. From someone to be successful they need to have both of the qualities and be like a music conductor.

INSTANT MBA: OpenSky CEO Says Leaders Should Run Their Business Like An Orchestra
An entrepreneur has an idea and takes the risk in order to make the idea happen. A leader is someone who runs the business with employees; following the leader. Being in sync and working hand to hand with the employees, motivates them. I love the quote, "Being able to help other people make the music that builds the business that you're creating" because it emphasizes the importance of a great leader.

INSTANT MBA: OpenSky CEO Says Leaders Should Run Their Businesses Like An Orchestra
To be a good leader you must be inspirational and that's what Caplan means in this link of the day. With an incredible leader a group can do almost anything. Some people are going to need that push after things did not go as planned. A leader should be able to motive his employees to where they never thought they could. The leader in any setting may come off pushy and that's because they are not saying the right things, but have good intentions. When a good leader gives his employees that powerful talk they will understand and fell as if they could take on anything.
