This article makes too much sense to me in my own business. This article is true in that my district manager never makes anyone feel that they cannot do something or not succeed. My “boss” always gives the impression that I will make it and make it big. Therefore this article really hits home with me in the fact that all business owners and bosses should make their employees feel like mine has made me feel and that is to be the best I can possibly be each and every day.

INSTANT MBA: Good Bosses Know How Important it is For Their Employees to Feel
Being a good boss almost has to come natural. It isn't something you can fake! A good boss knows how to create a positive working environment, making everyone feel wanted and needed for the success of the company. There are times for fun and then there are times for seriousness, but as long as everyone is feeling connected then they are always going to do more for the company. The more positive everyone feels, the more work they put into bettering things. Also, giving incentives makes all employees work towards being awarded. All employees are going to always want to do there best in order to be awarded for it.

Instant MBA: Good Bosses Know How Important It Is For Their Employees To Feel Connected
Motivation is one of the most important techniques when managing or supervising. As the article points out, you have to make the employee WANT to excel. If a "leader" only focuses on results, it portrays greed (in the eyes of the employee). Motivating employees helps them have fun at work. When the employee are happy and energetic, it rubs off on others, especially the client. For example, at the Starbucks in the Student Union, the ladies in there are exceptionally nice and try to form a relationship with the customer by trying to remember their names and order. I go there everyday before class because it doesn't matter how busy they are, they always make sure they are smiling and have a positive attitude. This relates it to being a friendly, comfortable, inviting environment that makes the customer/client WANT to come back.

INSTANT MBA: Good Bosses Know How Important It Is For Their Employees To Feel
Creating an environment that people can excel and feel good in is a necessity. People are at there best when they are in a good environment and feel like they can accomplish a goal. This is where you want your employees to be. In a feel good environment people are more likely to excel and this is the environment a good leader will create. It's important to be in touch with your employees feeling and understand what they need.

Instant MBA: Good Bosses Know How Important It Is For Their Employees To Feel Connected My work environment consists of unscheduled meetings, and when something goes wrong my boss is quick to blame the first person she sees. I’m not saying she a bad manager but she is one to point of the negatives before the positive. A good manager needs to be able to give praises when it is deserved and coaching when needed. A manger should treat their employees as equality as possible. I feel that when employees are getting the proper recognition they feel motivated to do better.

INSTANT MBA: “Good Bosses Know How Important It Is For Their Employees To Stay Connected.”
It is important to give employees an atmosphere where they feel they can excel without having to be threatened. Now I am not saying every boss should be a "country club boss" where anything goes and its okay. However, statistics show that when fear is the main reason for results, those results are not up to par. By being an encouraging boss you can really have a positive affect on your employee's attitude, and most importantly their results.

INSTANT MBA: Good Bosses Know How Important It Is For Their Employees To Feel Connected
In this reading Aderson talks about how important it is to care about your employees. When being the leader of anything and you want good results you must have people that follow you feeling valued and cared about. This is crucial in a business because if a employee feels as if you do not care it can lead to things that maybe unethical behavior. I think she is saying do not run a business with the mindset of "you do not have to like me but you will respect me" but give them an idea that you want them there.

Instant MBA: Good Bosses Know How Important It Is For Their Employees To Feel Connected
Over-focusing on what's going wrong, as the article mentions, is a very real mistake some managers make. As a leader it is important to fix problems, but it shouldn't be your only focus. Focusing on more than just results can indirectly actually get you great results. If you motivate your employees and recognize the positives they will work harder and feel like they can excel. Encouraging a connected environment in the workplace makes someone feel like they really are a part of something and that their actions matter.

This article focuses on the importance of the leadership role. Leaders can influence and manipulate how people interact in their work environments. When everything is running smooth you can tell because it will reflect in the environment. If I was to own my own business I would hope that everything was reflected from the top down owner to management and to employees alike. Also because I believe in that saying that the best workers work in happy environments when they are most content. Mrs. Andersen's bottom line is that creating an environment in which people want to excel then they will excel.

INSTANT MBA: Good Bosses Know How Important It Is For Their Employees To Feel Connected
I agree with this article and believe that businesses should create an atmosphere where employees believe they can excel and want to excel within the organization. I have never understood companies that want to "scare" their employees into working hard. "You catch more flies with honey than vinegar" and it is important for employers and leaders to remember that. By creating an atmosphere where employees enjoy work and want to succeed, a business can actually improve their efficiency. Also, employees are willing to do more for the bosses that are nice and respectful.

Erika Andersen's states great leaders truly value community. I agree with this statement and feel like great leaders look for success in more than just themselves. Great leaders make employees or others around them better people and can help boost their morale. Great leaders use the right technique in order to get the people around them to become better. Erika also talks about leaders unintentionally encourage fear. Great leaders should encourage inspiration and good direction.

INSTANT MBA: Good Bosses Know How Important It Is For Their Employees To Feel
A sense of community and belonging makes everyone put more value into their work. And that responsibility is dependent on the manager. Managers that encourage a high energy workplace will see great results in teamwork and productivity. Energy is contagious, whether it is positive or negative so you must be careful what kind of atmosphere you promote.

Instant MBA: Good Bosses Know How Important It Is For Their Employees To Feel Connected
If leaders unintentionally encourage fear, it could lead to a non productive company. Leaders should encourage employees to make suggestions. A lot of good ideas come from the employees that have to do the work over and over again. They themselves create their own shortcuts and fast ways to do the same job. The employee in a friendly open environment could tell manager a better way to do the job. This suggestion could be spread throughout the company making it more efficient and productive than it was before.

Making a positive environment for your employees is a very important task for business owners and managers to create. Having a happy work environment ensures more productiveness. I know that at my work, when I have positive reinforcement, I want to work even harder. When a company has a negative environment, it causes most employees to be unhappy and to not even care to work harder or grow in the company.

I agree with this article, that sometimes it is nice to hear encouraging words from bosses instead of negative things. It's refreshing to get congratulated on the good things you've gotten accomplished rather than nagged about the things you didn't do. Being in a sorority, it's normal to always want to be the best and winning different awards and what not, but I like when we don't just focus on results, but that we recognize how important it is for everyone to just have fun being together. Sometimes it's not just about winning everything, but that we had fun bonding together while we do things. Our president does a wonderful job reminding us how great we are, and constantly encourages us to continue to exceed in all that we do.
