INSTANT MBA: There Is A Difference Between A Leader And A Manager
I would have to agree with the differences between managers and leaders. Leaders help employees see the bigger picture of things. Leaders try to help set up goals and establish whether or not they can be reached. Managers help the goals get met with whatever means necessary.

INSTANT MBA: There Is A Difference Between A Leader And A Manager
I couldn't agree more with this article, there is a big difference between a manager and a leader. Once you mix these traits together you become a more versatile manager or owner. I personally think that while it is very important to have a manager type personality you also have to be more of a leader so you can relate to your employees, customers, and have that open line of communication. Bottom line, you must be a manager, but you also need to relate to the people you are working with so you don't seem unapproachable.

INSTANT MBA: There Is A Difference Between A Leader And A Manager
The article is 100 percent correct, there is a very distinct difference between a leader and a manager. It is very beneficial for those in the business world to master both. Although I am already a manager by title, I strive to be a leader in the restaurant and inspire my crew to get the job done. As a manager it is my job to delegate out tasks and make sure the shift runs to standard. But, as a manager I need to be a leader in order to insure I can effectively influence my subordinates to get the job done.

INSTANT MBA: There Is A Difference Between A Leader And A Manager
Both leaders and managers are very important, but there is a difference between the two. Leadership is about building relationships with your employees. Leaders try to keep a positive attitude and guide the business in the right direction. Management is about making sure the employees are doing what they are supposed to be doing. Managers do not have to have a good relationship with their employees. They just have to make sure the employees are being steered in the right direction.

INSTANT MBA: There Is A Difference Between A Leader And A Manager
I agree with this article. There is a large difference between management and leadership. You can have a management title and you may get the job done, but that doesn't make you a leader. Leadership is the ability to influence others to do what you want them to do. Management is knowing what needs to be done and when but you have to have the leadership skills to back that up. You have to be able to be able to influence your employees to not only do those things, but to want to continue to do those things for you because they like and respect you.

INSTANT MBA: There Is A Difference Between A Leader And A Manager
This article discusses an interesting point about the relationship between leadership and management. In order to be a good manager, you have to have leadership skills. The article is accurate in stating that management skills are based around close to an exact formula, but leadership is comprised of developing relationships with people. Management and leadership go hand in hand for a person to be a good conductor of business.

INSTANT MBA: There Is A Difference Between A Leader And A Manager
This is essentially saying that every good manager is a leader, but not every good leader is a manager. To be a leader, you must be that get up and go get 'em, won't take no for an answer, inspirational, charistmatic guy that is able to get others to see things his way simply through words and actions. A manager is someone who tells you the rules and makes sure you follow them as closely as need be. The biggest difference i see between managers and leaders is how they are made: Leaders make themselves, using skills they are often born with, and are able to rally others to their cause simply because they make good sense; a manager is someone who is appointed to handle and control a group of people that need to be handled. A manager gathers followers because the followers don't have a choice, other than leaving that place of business.

INSTANT MBA: There Is A Difference Between A Leader And A Manager
Nice article. You don’t have to be a manager to be a leader, however you should definitely be a leader if you’re a manager. Unfortunately not all managers have leader attributes. In some ways, being a leader can be much harder than being a manager.

INSTANT MBA: There Is A Difference Between A Leader And A Manager
A person is given the position as a manager, but a leader is something an individual can create themselves. You don't have to be in a management position to be a leader. I think being a leader is about connecting to people's heart and emotions. It is getting to really know someone and figure out what motivates them. Once you figure that out as a manager you will be able to maximize your team.

INSTANT MBA: There Is A Difference Between A Leader And A Manager
The article splits management and leadership up, stating that they are not mutually exclusive. I agree with that statement, but I believe the really good managers are also good leaders, and vice versa. The managers above me that I remember have all been both. Leadership is a must when starting a business, but management is vital in running the business.

INSTANT MBA: There Is A Difference Between A Leader And A Manager
Never thought there is much of a difference I guess its how you look at it, and everyone looks at differently. You have to build a team of dedicated employees that share the same passion that your company has. Leadership is about connecting with people at an emotional level. People are usually born with this skill as its not something easily learned.

INSTANT MBA: There Is A Difference Between A Leader And A Manager
To me there is a huge difference between being a leader and being a manager. To me, being a manager is about just giving instructions and making sure the work gets done. However, a leader has a since of connection with the employees, they lead their employees to getting the work done and they also set a great work vibe for the department. A leader is the way to go as it brings the employee morale up.

INSTANT MBA: There Is A Difference Between A Leader And A Manager
Being the manager of a company means having legitimate power, a title, and often a higher salary, but being a leader in a company simply means that you have followers. Not all leaders are managers, and not all managers are leaders. As discussed in the article, a good manager has the perfect mix of managerial skills, and leadership skills. A leader is one who motivates his followers to get things done, and a manager is one who carries out the tasks and makes sure they are done correctly.

Basically managers can be trained to train. They can simple follow procedure and stick to the company charter or policy. This can be very beneficial. A leader can lead people into the void and make something out of nothing. They are the architects of ideas.

This article makes an excellent point. Managers and Leaders are often thought to be one in the same when in fact they are not. This article does an excellent job of defining both positions and highlighting the difference between the two.
