The Skill of Self Confidence: Dr. Ivan Joseph at TEDx
Without self confidence, we cannot reach great places. If you cannot believe in yourself, you will not be able to accomplish anything. In a business, you need this self confidence and be able to do get out there and accomplish things. Self confidence is a skill, it is something can learn. The best way to learn anything is repetition. Also you should not be scared of failure, you should be confident that you can do something and keep trying. You should not accept failure and persist on what you are doing. Over come every obstacle and do what you want to do.

Being a athlete I understand the importance of Self Confidence, the mental aspect of athletics is the determining factor of many outcomes. Without this skill you cannot grow, no matter how much better physically I am better than my opponent if I dont believe I can beat him I wont beat him because mentally I am defeated and there's usually no quick combat from a mental defeat.

TITLE - The Skill of Self Confidence: Dr. Ivan Joseph at TEDx
Self-confidence is repetition. The more you do something the more confident you become doing it. You must have self-confidence in order to achieve your goals. If you are very self-conscious of yourself the you will crack at the first chance of failure. Failure happens to everyone because we are all human. The one that truly fails is the one that don't get back up and make something of that failure. This comes with self-confidence. Knowing that no matter how many times you fail, you know that you will achieve this. Having that self-confidence and self-motivation in knowing that you WILL do what you've dreamed of doing and there is no chance in failure.

I enjoyed watching this video. Anything related to sports tends to click with me so I took away a few good things. Dr. Ivan Joseph talks about the skill of self confidence an how that is what he valued most in his scoccer players. He wants his team to be able to believe in themselves. He also goes into detail about how to build self-confidence. This takes dedicated time of practice and repetition. You can't bail out after/if you fail.

Moral of the video here is to be confident, almost arrogant or cocky, I think that when people have this bravado about them others will follow suit. If someone has confidence in him or herself, what is there that you cannot do? Seriously, what can someone not do? Other people can tell you what you can or can't do, but it will be up to you whether or not you listen and believe them. I was told I can be president of the US, will it be difficult? Yes, impossible? No. Self confidence allows you to do whatever it is that you want, people will always criticize what you do, usually its their job to do so. Muhammad Ali, "I am the greatest" is a perfect example of someone who exhumed self confidence, almost to the point of aggravation because he was very good, and no one could beat him. This skill is one of the best if not the best skill to have.

I was truly informed by this video about self confidence. We are supposed to be different: trailblazers, innovators, dream catchers. But if you don't believe you can be all these things; then you will never be. Whether you believe you can do anything or you believe you can do nothing, you are right. Because it is not what you can do that is important; its what you believe you can that is.

The Skill of Self Confidence: Dr. Ivan Joseph at TEDx
To be successful in business you must have self confidence. You have to feel comfortable with your ideas. You have to be confident when presenting those ideas to others or they won't take you serious. I know in my current position, it took me a while to build up my self confidence. At first I asked a lot of questions and had to have reassurance. Now people come to with questions and it makes me feel good about myself because I know that my confidence and knowledge is why they come to me.

This video talks about the "skill" of self confidence. Dr. Ivan Joseph uses the word skill because he believes it can be trained. Just like in sports, self confidence can also be used in the business world. The only way to have great self confidence is through repetition. If we practice anything were going to get better at it. The key is to not let failure get us down. Were all going to fail but it's important to keep practicing to polish our techniques.

I would definitely share this link with friends and colleagues. Thank you DR. Wyld. I am a proponent of building confidence. I feel that I built my confidence through exercise that made me stronger and stand taller and more upright. It developed me from a person with weaknesses to a person of confidence. People like those that are confident and most of the time it can be contagious to the people you work with. Being confident is crucial when doing interviews because you have to say your story in order to convince a stranger that you are the right organizational fit for the company.

TITLE - The Skill of Self Confidence: Dr. Ivan Joseph at TEDx "No one will believe in you unless you do." That's a great quote by Joseph. He gave a good speech about self confidence. I like how he spoke about self-talk. Thoughts provoke action and we can choose to negatively or positively think of ourselves. Even when it comes to interpreting comments we can still interpret them in a positive manner to have a positive effect on the way we think. People can do greater things without negative thoughts. I am curious about what video Dr. Joseph is referencing to before the talk. Does anyone know? In his conclusion he quotes the video he showed.

I liked this video for the most part and I believe that anyone can learn to have self confidence. I was very shy and didn't have a whole lot of confidence in high school and my first couple of years after high school. However I have come out of my shell and I am always very confident in myself now in all situations. The one part of this video that I didn't like was the last bit of advice that the speaker gave. Unless I heard him incorrectly, it sounds like he was saying that we should trick ourselves into believing that we accomplished something even in situations of failure. While confidence is very important, we should not acquire it by tricking ourselves in this manner. Learning and recognizing our weaknesses so that we may eventually turn them into strengths is a much better approach in my opinion.

I like how he classifies self-confidence as a learned skill. I, for example, had trouble learning it because of my introverted tendencies. Some extroverts I envy as they tend to radiate self-confidence. However and nonetheless, with hard practice and growing up I have achieved it! Regardless of a person’s personality, it is necessary to be successful; no one will place faith, trust, or other similar investments in you unless you believe in yourself! While I can say it is harder for me to feign confidence, I can still do it just as well as anyone else...it’s just more exhausting. My struggles best represent the nature of learning as everyone has different abilities and affinities towards certain things. Things which are harder for some are easier for others. Some people have to practice more to perfect an art. In my case, I needed more practice and exposure to become convincing when I presented myself.

TITLE- The Skill of Self Confidence: Dr. Ivan Joseph at TEDx
Self Confidence is important in any facet of life especially in business. I have had to face areas of my life where I am least confident and the task at hand became extremely difficult. The more I prepared and practiced the easier new challenges in that area became. Self-confidence is something that at times can be inherent but I have found that more often it is learned. As managers being confident whether or not we feel comfortable can be the most influential factor in our personal success.
